I can't believe non-hackers buy some of this stuff...

Some people have more money than they know what to do with, how dare they spend it in a way they enjoy!

Well games in general are over-priced so why is this shocking?

The game is free to own, and has expensive DLC, instead of $70ish to buy with cheaper DLC

Nobody would buy this game in the first place if it was $70. Tapped Out could never be a disc-priced kind of game.

I personally love the Simpsons, and have bought all buildings and characters...I don't find it that expensive since they do space it out pretty good..it's about $20 a month if that..the game is free after all..they have to make some money off it..

I've seen every Simpsons episode from seasons 1-8 at least 10 times, and some over 20. I'm obsessed with the series, but even $20 a month or so for this game is a bit much. If previously limited time items come back again, I'll probably cave ... there were some things I would have liked to have in my town.

Totally agree, it's a simpler game that appeals to a much wider market, and even if most players never spend a cent, those that do put money straight into EAs pocket, remember there isn't many 20s in $1000

While I've no idea how much revenue tsto makes for EA surely unlike a disc game which makes a lot then dies off quick freemiums keep making money until they're no longer popular

I mean, the prices have always been the same... it's not like they've changed, but it's kind of ridiculous. It's $15ish for Scorpio. Sure, it comes with a building, but $15 in the digital world can get you a lot of crap. For it to get you a little digital character and a mountain, I find that to be a bit excessive.

My main reason for posting this was seeing Lugash's Gym -- 175 Donuts for a character that's not really popular (to my knowledge) in the Simpson world.

AT THE SAME TIME, I like visiting Springfields where people have the Premium items. I only have the Halloween ones myself, but only because I didn't pay for the stuff.

well, at the same time EA have to be paying the simpsons creator for copyrights, and as you know the simpsons is very famous which means the copyright is pricey.. while ea have to pay the creator, ea must also have profit for themselves. not defending for ea here but i think it's on a reasonable price, it's like you paying for action figures which does nothing but fulfill your satisfaction.

on the other hand it will become reasonable price if this games actually not glitching/bugging here and there every time there's and update. if the game works perfectly i think it makes sense to pay that price.

and also about hacking and stuff, of course you can hack it.. but the purpose of this game is satisfaction, the feeling "have to get all the premium", "make my town the most beautiful", is coming from hard work, and putting ridiculous time to this game, from my personal experience, i already have tried play with hacking (not this game, but similar with you need some level to build and have building time) but it's not fun anymore since you can get everything very easy, that's why i don't try to hack this game, the satisfaction you get by doing it daily and hacking is different, of course that's only my personal opinion :D, i don't have any malice towards any hacking to this game

My Springfield's personally all legit, and I've heard that people that DID get unlimited Donuts regretted it, because it took away the purpose of the game -- I can see that. You can speed up every task, you don't need to wait for quests, you have everything unlocked... there's not much to look forward to.

At the same time, I'm stressed to hell wondering if I'll be able to get all of the Whacking Day stuff.

GIVE ME ALL OF YOUR EGGS, PEOPLE!

Dude, I know some people that spend $15-30 a WEEK on coffee....talk about * away money. $20 a month is not that much.....

I am also an Xbox player, the way I look at this is, I would pay $65 for an Xbox game plus another $40+ for DLC (on a good game). I would play that game for 3 months or so until a new game came out. I got this game for free and I have been playing this for 5 months solid, so for me to spend $100+ dollars, I feel I am ahead of the game when you compare the entertainment value I am getting.

    Just my opinion

It's relative to each individuals situation in life. If I only told you that I spent $200 in one month on this game, you would think I'm some Richy Rich, or that I need to check into a mental institution. But, the whole story is that the $200 was money I saved in ONE month from quitting smoking. When I decided to quit, one of the incentives, other than my health, was that the money I spent on smokes would be instead spent on entertainment for myself. One month was tapped out, the other, a night on the town. Although, with all the glitches and server problems, what helped me quit, was what almost brought me to the point to light up again  !

Difference is, this isn't a game that you can play for hours at a time. It's really not comparable.

I don't get these threads. We all have our own preferences and interests and pursue and prioritize them accordingly. You're not smarter just because you believe your choices are better than those someone you've never even met has made.

Microtrans thrives off of a relatively small population of people willing to spend relatively large amounts of money on virtual items at a regular frequency (every time new items appear, basically). Please remember that these people subsidize the game for everyone else.

Do some of them have severe compulsion or impulse-control issues? It seems almost certain. Is it immoral for a company to specifically-design their games to capitalize on that weakness? I believe so, yes, but others disagree. Are this game's items ridiculously overpriced? Definitely and with no defense.

That said, people are free to do what they like with their resources.

I wish this game had a bit more depth, and I wish it was a little less scroogy. Okay, I wish it was a lot less scroogy. But that's life.

Reminds me of a friend I have that ALWAYS buys games he wants the FIRST day they come out. He beats them in a week, and sells them for $25/$30. He's not the smartest cat (everyone has one of "those" friends), but I guess a lot of people do something similar in this game by buying the pricey "micro" transactions.
