EA never gives exact times for updates, and much to the chagrin to many players, they exyended WD for a week. I kept my eye out on the forums and once I saw that the update was in the App Store, I knew it was time to cash in.

I understand the frustration of "almost" getting to a goal, but seriously, this was a very long event, if I were you I would have made whatever purchases you needed to make last night, as you never know what time an update will hit and whether or not it will be forced.

Ha ha, when I first read this I thought you were accusing me of whining.

Im a newish player who just started before Whacking Day. I spent a bunch of extra time trying to get the Sleep-Eazy Motel after the Whacking Day extension only to come in at 150 snakes short. Why wasn't there a last chance to buy it with 15 donuts after the forced update? Better yet, why was there no trade of extra snakes to donuts so that people in the same position could get that last prize without paying full price or at least have something to show for the hours of time it took to whack thousands of snakes?

So frustrated. I feel I should just stop playing until maybe my corn is done growing in 50 days...

Corn still growing in the field.....always a great reason to keep playing!!....

Yep, EA screwed you by letting you get that close by extending it a week. They should have ended it last week then you'd have nothing to complain about.

They DID extend the Valentines event. It lasted until Feb 28th, AND we got a Heart Grinder to eat up our unwanted hearts and turn them into cash.

If you're going to *, get it right ;)

**ALWAYS** finish events by the day before they are scheduled to end.

Seriously? You are bothered that you were short by 150 snakes *after* the event was extended by a week? Sorry, but that's just poor planning and execution. There's no reason you couldn't have generated 150 snakes or accelerated the hotel before the stated deadline. (Ok, maybe accelerating would be a bad idea, given EA's choice to extend *after* the original deadline was extended. However, you had an extra week and HAD to know how many snakes you gathered each day on average. There were several ways to accelerate snake production if your calculations showed you might run the risk of running short. Math IS your friend.)

Thats not a very useful reply considering the event was in fact extended (just after I got Tatum, for what its worth) and I spent that 1 week extension getting ~2300 snakes for the last prize. My question or point here was that it would have been nice to have been able to trade those unredeemed snakes in for donuts or game money; like the Valentines Day event apparently. Considering I have 12 donuts and will not be throwing down $20 to buy the motel, the 235 donut equivalent of the 2350 snakes I had left would have been nice. Hell, half of that would have been nice. And if you hadnt added a useless response 2 hours ago, I would have nothing to complain about this time as well.

For everyone else, thanks for the event history and tips. I will take future event extensions with a grain of salt.

Oh shush. This guy/gal is a new player. A simple "this is the way EA usually does things, expect updates to end on the announced date well before midnight" would be a lot cooler.

Would that have been nice? Yes. Did they screw you? Hardly. It is a free game. You aren't out any money (unless you choose to). They gave away tons of content, essentially for free. Yes, you had to play the game to earn it, but it was still free if you didn't want to pay money. On top of that they extended a week. Yes, I agree they did a poor job of communicating an extension, but they still did it. So essentially you had one more week to get that prize and you didn't make it so EA screwed you? You have this expectation that this game is run for charity? You don't want to pay for the items, that's your choice, but don't blame EA for not earning it yourself in time.

If you weren't a new player, I would have 0 sympathy for you, but since you're not used to how EA handles events and updates, I do feel your pain. Events can end at any point in the day, so it's good to make a final decision as early in the day as possible if not the night before. Also, for both Valentines and Christmas , we were told a week in advance that access hearts and Santa coins could be traded in, it's never happened after an event ended without a previous alert, so definitely don't count on that in the future. Hope some of this helps you out for future events, sorry about the motel :)
