I understand what you're saying, but you can't police the Internet like real life. Trolls will never go away and they'll never stop trying to get under someone's skin. You can't stop everything, you just have to ignore it and not let it get to you. I agree that words hurt, but words from some low life hiding behind a computer screen??? Yeah, sorry, that's not going to bother or effect my life one bit. I could care less what some troll writes or says to me on the internet.

What if you received a PM from someone saying they knew where you lived and were driving down to kill you. Would you still ignore it? I know I wouldn't. I can ignore most comments, but I'm willing to bet a death threat would give you chills down your spine.

Never said it wouldn't freak me out, but what am I supposed to do? Live scared and let it effect me??? Not a chance, I'm going to go about my day as I always would and he should do the same. You let these people get to you and they win because you're changing for them. I'm not gonna let anything anyone writes to me online, including a death threat, effect my life. Life is short, if you let people get to you, then I feel bad for you.

I didn't say it would stop you living your life but you do agree that a comment made on the internet has effect, that was the basis of my comment. You said in your earlier comment it wouldn't bother you. It wouldn't bother me either if it was just me they were threatening, but if someone wanted my family dead, it would resonate a little more than it should.

You're right. A death threat would freak anybody out, and it would effect me for about 5 seconds, my whole point is, he shouldn't stop writing the blog for a few days because of this. He's giving them the satisfaction of knowing that they're the reason he's taking a break.

Actually one of the things, I really enjoyed about the blog, was that he modified what comments were published.
On top of that, he would answer all questions in the comment section.

The argument, that "This is the internet" is not valid at all. Trolls will be trolls, but there is quite a difference between obnoxious people and personal threats to a person and his family.

I fully reject this kind of behaviour.

Wow. Different opinions. I think Crisp is right though - the internet is a free for all and this guy must have taken precautions when making a site (which is why we aren't allowed to post personal details) so he should be safe and ignore any comments. If he stops writing those trolls will know it is affecting him and just keep at it.

The outside world is dangerous and threatening but you still step outside the door. In this day and age people can't be ignorant of the internets dark side - you don't go down a dark alleyway unless you know what you are getting into.

Just goes to show what lunatics extreme NRA supporters are, don't you think? Surely anyone who wants to be in the NRA shouldn't be allowed to own a gun? :?:

In reality, this moron is likely a keyboard warrior. Nevertheless it is totally unacceptable IMO.

I love his site and he is a great guy who does all of that for free. But, trolls are trolls, and this is the Internet. When you create a website that allows comments, there's going to be idiots who abuse it. This has been going on since it was invented, and will always happen. You need to have thick skin to write a blog like that and not be so sensitive. That being said, it's despicable and disgusting anyone would threaten him or his family over tapped out, and no one deserves that, but you expose yourself to that when you create a popular blog that has nearly 10 million hits, of course there's going to be a small % of nutjobs. By taking time off and not writing the blog, he's letting the trolls win, and giving them exactly what they want. I know he visits this forum, so Mr. Tips, don't stop writing the blog, and don't take any time off, don't let the trolls get what they want!

Nice post! I agree! I also enjoy his site and visit daily. Anyone can write anything from behind the computer, don't see this changing anytime soon. Don't feed the trolls.

I have never heard about that, where did you read that? It would not make sense, he is only blogging about things that are accessible to everyone.

I can see that he might have received one of those, due to his use of pictures. But again, that will be a larger battle for EA/FOX to remove all pictures on the internet, than taming all the trolls on forums like these...

No offense, just questioning their sanity at alienating what is likely a large percentage of paying players...

Perceived "gun nuts" like to play games, too -- :)

You have to ask yourself what kind of complete idiot a person must be to threaten someone over a game. Those people are just attention seeking.

dominic115, I couldn't help but smile at your comparison.
But to be honest, I do not think you should ever expect threats, because of a hobby.
This guy is not a rockstar. He is a guy like you and me, with a full time job, and a passion for this game.

To be honest, neither is Beiber. But seriously, it's pretty messed up to be make death threats over something that was meant to entertain people.

People should treat each other with respect... I'm disappointed that people think "because it's the internet" or "it was a minor threat" it should be ignored.

First of all, it's only "because it is the internet" because we choose to adopt that attitude and ignore it. If every time people behaved that way on line we condemned it, then it would be reduced. All of moral progress in the history of civilization, through every type of societal revolution, has come because people refused to accept that "it's just the _______." Society should control norms, not the other way around.

As to it being a minor threat... all indecent behavior is indecent and should be treated as such. I don't think people are advocating throwing the man in prison. The severity of the action should dictate the severity of the response, it doesn't make something that is wrong ok. As an aside, I think a threat is always a little easier to brush off if it isn't being made towards you.

Finally, who cares if he put himself out there? No one (not even Beiber) deserves to have his/her life threatened. That is a childish and inappropriate response to disliking someone (and this is coming from a person that really hates his music and thinks he is a no-talent hack). The mere fact that celebrities have become so accustomed to being disabused and harassed does not mean that they, or anyone else, should have to learn to tolerate that behavior. That we live in a world where trying to brush it off is a more tenable solution than holding the people accountable who were actually in the wrong is a sad fact of our existence. Let's all just stop making excuses for a$$ h0le5 in any forum, shall we?
