So many selfish, snoby, spoilt kids in this thread.
Android players should have the access to the stuff that was released prior to the app being released, that's is a given as its not their fault they missed them.
saying that newer players could have missed stuff for other reasons such as ea being unreliable.
I'm speaking on behalf of others as I don't care either way, I play on android and have every item so I'm happy.
I just hate the "ive got it and I don't want them to have it" attitude. It has no impact on your game whatsoever.

If it is holiday items make them only available every year during the holiday. Santa homer only during christmas, halloween during halloween, etc.

Episode specific skin ones like Nice Suit Moe, Fruitbat man, etc should be brought back for a Gil's special. Make it individual ones. I missed Fruitbat Man because the game wouldn't connect to servers and I didn't learn about the uninstall trick till after it was over. I'd kinda like to have him.

Buildings with characters or characters by themselves that are non holiday specific (Tatum and coliseum, ball stadium, Sleep-ezy motel, Shauna, etc) should be purchasable with donuts after event where you collect to unlock. Stuff like Swanky Fish and stuff should be permanent.

Why do you think it is so unlikely that EA will re-release atleast some of the previous limited time premium items? You don't think they recognise the potential to make more money, and therefore won't, or do you think that they don't care about the moneymaking potential perhaps? Do you have some other reason for believing so?

Every argument against re-releasing limited time stuff is a different permutation of the above. All of them boil down to the same thing: a warped sense of superiority and a pathetic means of enforcing self-worth. Nobody cares if you were an early player. You know you were an early player. Is that not good enough?

Thus far, nobody really has an authentic argument against re-releasing old content in some form.

It really seems that having renewing opportunity to obtain older items and a hope for new players to eventually have all the cool stuff they see in other people's Springfields far outweighs the non-existent benefits of massaging the ego of dominic115 and those like him. If I was EA I would be very interested in making sure newer players that decide to be completionists would have opportunities to obtain old stuff and get close to 100%.

Spirit of inclusion > "I Was Here First" Vigorous Ego Stroking

It you would quit the game because new players could get a chance to have the Duff Racer or Moe's Suit and you'd lose precious inches in the unzip-and-measure contest I highly recommend putting down the iPad and reassessing the point of games like this one. Games that don't have winners and losers. You'd don't win if you have Cool Brown House and some guy from Ohio who just saved up enough to buy a new device and started playing TSTO does not and never will. I know it feels like you're better than them but in reality you are anything but.

Thank you! I just fell in love with you in a totally non-romantic or sexual way, sort of how one would love a sports team or favorite TV show. Awesome and well worded post. Please, have this entire plate of cookies. :)

Thank you very much! At the risk of invokling the wrath of the exclutionists: I will share these cookies with players that started the game recently or are Android users.

If you change your mind on the "totally non-romantic or sexual way" you won't keep it secret, right?

It's strange that EA is continually accused of being money-grubbing swines until the notion of re-releasing limited time TSTO content is mentioned. Then the most obvious means of making money requiring the least effort (not like they have to build new models or art) is discarded as a highly improbable course of action.

    I don't get it.

These arguments are okay when it comes to limited items that are free or for in-game cash, but for those items that are limited and cost donuts it's a different story I think. And limited donut items seem to be becoming the majority nowadays. If I thought limited donut items were going to come back, I might choose to wait to get them. It's the fact that it says limited time that causes the mad rush to get them. If limited isn't limited why rush.

    Pick me!

You can't know if they are going to come back or especially when; then you'll get them the first time around. The second time around might be a lot more costly. Who knows? You can't take the chance! You must BUY NOW! :D

@Excruciator69: Hehe, I suddenly got that eager kid in class feeling ;) Made me smile. Anyway, well said.

@Sherryt07: You could read DIrishB's first post on page 8 (it has too many quotes in it for me to quote it here, it will be messy). That post, and the answer from Excruciator69 answers you. Just to be clear. Limited time content those NOT mean one time only. And saying something is limited time is a marketing trick to get people to buy it NOW. Because it is limited time, you don't want to take any chances regarding if the product ever will be available again. It's a very effective way of getting people to buy something right away.

I doubt they would raise the prices on donut items, since the donut prices are already high. But isn't this a similar argument to mine. Limited time should mean limited, if things are going to be seasonal instead....call them seasonal.

Lot of entitlement in this thread over such trivial items.

When this game came out, I wasn't even aware it existed because I didn't have an iPhone. The day I got an iPhone, I downloaded this game. Lol at people wanting to be 'rewarded' for discovering the game at an earlier time . If you were one of the first players, great. You are probably months ahead in progress than many of the new people.

The concept of limited time items on a game like this makes no sense to me and comes off as nothing more than a way to hype stuff and get people to impulse buy. I have to question whether or not this stuff is truly limited. It would be dumb for EA to miss out on re-releasing stuff for people to buy if they want it. It's not like it would cost them anything to put that stuff back onto the server. It's a win-win for them. Also, as someone else stated, if the only other avenue to get some of those buildings is by hacking, it provides a lot more incentive for someone to go that route. Some people just want to have all the buildings and design their town to their liking without caring to play a childish virtual game of keep up with the Joneses.

You might doubt it but you can't know for sure. I do agree it's unlikely they would raise the price.

That's the beauty of using the word "limited." If I tell you it's "seasonal" you might do something crazy such as waiting and not buying right now. Unacceptable!

I guess I object the most to them using the word, if its not going to be limited time don't call it that.

    limited[ lim-i-tid ]
    adjective
    1. confined within limits; restricted or circumscribed: a limited space; limited resources.
    2. restricted with reference to governing powers by limitations prescribed in laws and in a constitution, as in limited monarchy; limited government.
    3. characterized by an inability to think imaginatively or independently; lacking originality or scope; narrow: a rather limited intelligence.

I'm assuming EA is using the first definition. So a limited time item is therefore called limited because of the restrictions set upon it. In fact, it's the end date that establishes the "limited" part of the term.

They must be using the first definition.

So EA can choose to add a brand new start date and a new end date in the future for "Cool Brown House" and it still perfectly fits the criteria of "limited." The meaning is not violated. Access is still restricted by time frame(s).

Limited in this case they are meaning for the time being. Making people who played the game when the limited items come out so they buy them thinking its only for now and god knows when it will re-release if that and other people who missed it makes them want it and which makes them play more thinking it will be re-released. Especially since Fat Tony got re-released the increased chance of re-releasing limited items is even more highly possible now (even tho he wasn't a donuts purchase limited item). And this is EA we are talking about they will milk this making previous items come out later so the people who wanted them will buy them so fast because they waited so long and they wanted it so they just made money of off something they already did but all they did was let the item die out make more people want it because of rarity and maybe popularity and then re-release it. Basically profiting off of something they did already so basically free money for less then 1 min worth of work. Its a business tactic.

OT- went OT a little but they should/will bring back limited items because they will profit money and new players specially Android players who started halfway couldn't get a lot of the items and at the end of the day what does it matter it they get re-released or not why does someone not want old stuff to come back ??? You that spoiled that you are really hating that much that you want it all for yourself and something in a virtual world at that? Are you that selfish? Grow up its a game and let everyone play.

I wonder if EA is hesitant to re-release items as it may cause server issues.

Although the limit that was imposed at the start of Whacking Day is gone (probably due to massive complaints), I have noticed that people with tremendous decorations (done intentionally to create something artistic) also boot me out of the game. Therefore, it's obvious that there are still some server issues with regards to the number of items people have in their towns. Adding in old items to everyone may cause another server issue.

Of course, this is just wild speculation. After all, the game does continue to grow and expand all the time. Still, bringing back items from Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, *. Patrick's Day, and now Whacking Day, not to mention all the TV show tie-ins, could suddenly overwhelm their servers, especially with all the new Android players.

I have no problem with re-releases - except that sometimes prices often drop for an existing item when there's an update. If older items are re-released, long time players shouldn't be punished for having obtained them earlier at a higher price (especially if donuts were involved). This is especially true for certain decorations that don't really do anything (meaning, they give out no money, XP or any other type of bonus). The prices for anything re-released should be the same as they were orginally.

They may rerelease characters, like Shauna and Kang, but I doubt they will rerelease episode tie-in items. I'm sure we'll have more episode tie-in items next season-- 25 years of The Simpsons is a milestone! :)

They can call it whatever they want to make money, doesn't necessarily make it so. At most I would call it a "reoccurring item". It's more descriptive.

Maybe I just want to argue, and thank you Excruciator69 for being up for the challenge. Is the 69 is the year you were born? If so, we have something in common. :D

I think this was stated before, but it bears repeating.... Put the expired limited time only items into the Mystery box, so if users are interested in obtaining them, they can with repeating effort.
