It's also that we don't really like much controversy here. This is probably the most serious/political topic/discussion we've had on here.
Shame on everyone for not popping in to offer more refreshments and restock the buffet items. With sufficient beverage consumption this whole locking thing could have been easily avoided. I say open it back up. I'd like to see more of you people talking at each other while you deprive yourselves of sleep and become increasingly frustrated and homicidal. It's very entertaining
Yeah, as soon as I saw you call the other guy a moron, I was pretty sure that thread was toast. But it had strayed so far from the original purpose that it's probably not a bad thing. I just wish people could have an exchange and present their case without making up statistics to bolster a weak hand.
The badgering and accusations made any legitimate discussion about the OPs point very difficult. Try to have a discussion about flavors of satire and get accused of being a closet gun owner? No thanks.
So if anyone was following the thread that became the gun-control debate thread last night/this morning that was recently locked for excessive personal attacks, I would just like to apologize my part in any of that which offended those who were reading or participating.
I know I got carried away in the discussion, and I just wanted the community to know that I do not have any desire to bully anyone out of participation or make them feel that their views are being unfairly attacked. I don't want this thread to be a place to try to reopen that debate, just wanted to let you all know that I think there is room for respectful debate on both sides of the issue and am sorry we went beyond that point in the discussion.
Well said. I'm not one to join in on debates on here, I try to just keep my posts about the game, I thoroughly enjoyed reading what you wrote, made a lot of great points and opened my eyes to a few things I was not aware of. So, thank you for that.
There's nothing wrong with a good debate. We had one a few month ago ppl stated there very and it ended well. I think the recent thread was more of an attack on ppls beliefs and country's than it was weighing up the pro and cons of gun.
Just need to respect people views and discuss properly if you don't agree.
But nice one for say sorry if you offended anyone

+1
It's just that after a while there's really no point arguing with certain people because their agenda is going to stop them from comprehending anything of value you have to say, or trying to twist it to save face. Still a very informative read
I don't know why so many are opposed to debates on this board, especially when they are in the General Discussion section. I mean, the show/game does take a lot of political jabs and the latest update was pretty much a thinly veiled assault. I'm more or less on the writers side on this subject, but found a lot of it to be in bad taste. The debate last night spawned directly from a subject the game brought up, so I'm not so sure you could even declare it as off-topic from the game itself.

That's exactly where I was coming from-- the assault wasn't even thinly veiled, it was a sledgehammer. But some people won't accept that you can take issue with that sort of "humor" and not be Charlton Heston.
Personally, I don't like to get into talks with anything that has politics or religious beliefs. It's a sensitive subject that easily offends a number of people, which in terms makes them very hostile to you. So yeah, don't talk about those things between your friends!
That thread was a prime example of why this forum is neither the time nor place for a debate about gun control.
I disagree. I felt that the debate was going great as did others in higher positions than mine. Then a couple of people forgot the cardinal rule of debating: "Don't make it personal". That was when it had to be locked.

OT: lmao @ sig ^^ when Bart skates past Ralph: "I like men now."

Have to disagree. Like I said it just got a little heated. It is general discussion after all right?
