Is the Community Goo Tracker REAL or PHONY BALOGNA?

Prev13
I personally think it's real, what would be the point of a programmed tracker? If they are just going to give us everything wouldn't it be simpler to just randomly release extra Halloween content?

I'm gonna say real, conditionally. 9,216/second seems like a pretty random number, so I think they simply figured out an average number/second and programmed the counter to that. So while the actual counter may be "phony," I think it is based on real statistics they have, which is dervied from usage minutes, number of players, etc. Programming the counter for something like this may have just been too much of a drain on resources.

I've seen some speculation that the Community Goo Tracker may not be real and that it may be programmed. Share you thoughts on the topic, and vote if you think it's REAL or PHONY BOLOGNA.

    Also,

    Why is bolgna pronounced buh-loh-nee?

    --530

    Why isn't phony spelled phogna?

Here's a question. Let's say a person is actively participating in this Halloween update, but near the end will be going on vacation and not returning until after the Halloween update is over. When he gets back will he still be getting those community prizes?

It's rigged, and I'm okay with that.

Once you log into your town, in between re-synching with the EA server, the changes to the number are all hypothetical and do not necessarily accurately reflect changes to the Community Total that EA is keeping tabs on. That much you can be sure of.

Personally speaking, I believe that the number that you get from synching is accurate (at that moment) and does reflect the actual community total, but at this point I don't even think it matters; if it is fake, that means EA will give us all the prizes, and if it is real, we are waaay on target to get all the prizes, so either way is fine with me.

That is a good question, I'd guess no. I imagine you need to log in for it to place the items in your inventory but I really have no conclusive evidence either way.

Would they then change the numbers from day to day? Because they numbers have certainly gone up from day one.

Why do people think it's rigged?

Nobody can be sure of this because there is no precedent to point to, but I would personally doubt it. The closest comparison for the Community Prizes would seem to be limited-release items like, say, All-American Apu or Gorgeous Grampa. They are time-specific, and the only thing you have to do is log in within the correct timeframe, but you do have to do that.

I think both I think that the number we see isn't really what we are generating globally but it's a fixed meter so we all get the objects if ea thought we wouldn't get all the items they wouldn't have set the numbers so high so we will get all the items

That's a good point, I'm more worries that the pace will slow too much as more and more people hit 10,000 and get lazy about collecting the goo. I already feel this happening, my town is incredibly laggy and its very difficult to visit my friends, I've reverted to more of a 48 hour cycle and I still haven't hit 10,000.

At some point we will hit an upper limit, but for whatever it is worth getting from five to six billion was the fastest billion we've gotten yet, so we are still increasing speed.

If it is real then I have two concerns about reaching the target...

1, the update today means people can no longer tap more than 5 ghosts per neighbour.

2, will people become less inclined to gather goo once they reach 10000?

Both of these combined might lower the amount of goo gathered per day.

I think it is at least partially rigged. I am sure EA wants the community to get all of the items but at the same time they want us to keep playing like we are heading towards a goal. Win/win for everyone.

I didn't even think about that. It's not a huge decrease if people can't click more then the 5 ghosts, I only ever got as many as 9, usually only 1 or 2 extra, sometimes none but it is still a decrease . I just really want to last building, I saw a picture in another thread and it's just so cool!

Hopefully we get it one way or another (I really don't care much about the other stuff).

I dont care if it is real of not. as long as I get all the prizes. I do like trying to figure out how soon we will be getting the next prize though.

The former is an interesting thought, but remember that [as always, assuming the numbers are "real"] EA set the number from estimates which were based on that glitch not existing.

I've done some calculations based on how the global count is now moving and it's increasing at a rate of 9216 per second which is 1024 on top of the last count increase, which was 8192 which made it 5,000,000,000 on Tuesday, 8th October.

At the rate it is going now, providing it doesn't change and it's highly unlike as I believe the increment will increase by 1024 each week when we've got the price of the week.

Based on the 9216 per second increase, I've got Monday, 14th October as the day it counter will hit 10,000,000,000.

Which would make sense, as the counter increments has only increased by 1024 which makes it slightly faster than before which means a day earlier.

If the Global Count per second is increased by 1024 each time we get a prize. The 3rd Global Count will increase another 1024 making it 10240 per second which if the total to reach is 15,000,000,000 then of course that would be reached on Sunday, 20th October.

If the above is correct, then the 4th Global Count if it's 20,000,000,000 and the increment of 1024 to 10240 would make the Global Count increase by 11264 per second which would make the 4th Prize available on Saturday, 26th October.

And for the 5th item, 11264 per second will increase to 12288 per second to reach the final total as per guess work if it only increases by 5,000,000,000 each time we are awarded a prize, so we should reach 25,000,000,000 on Thursday, October 31st.

October 31st for the last prize would make sense since it's Halloween.

If anyone wishes to correct me, please do so but I believe the following.

    2nd Prize - 10,000,000,000 Reached - Monday, 14th October
    3rd Prize - 15,000,000,000 Reached - Sunday, 20th October
    4th Prize - 20,000,000,000 Reached - Saturday, 26th October
    5th Prize - 25,000,000,000 Reached - Thursday, 31st October.

I believe EA have done their math so the counter will give us the final item on the day of Halloween.

Haven - are you basing your estimates on actual calculations, or just the counter increments? Because the increments do not reflect the actual Community total (for one thing, every time you click the button it boosts it).

But you aren't factoring in one small thing... We are collecting 1 billion a day. We will hit 7 billion tonight, 8 billion Thursday night, 9 billion Friday night and 10 billion Saturday night. By those nights I am talking anytime before the sun comes up CST. So, by that calculation we should have the second prize some time very really sunday morning or even very late saturday.

But those boosts do not stay there. I boosted it up a few million and when I closed out and came back in it reverted to the correct number and not the boosted number.
