You say we will barely get One community prize. I say we will get them all.

If you're totally wrong then delete your account.

You want to make an account bet?

Whoa, whoa, let's not get carried away, guys. Think about what it is you do, here!
 This would be TSTO on Legendary mode.

    I'm not worried.

There are enough folks out there with spreadsheets, psychological profiles of their neighbors, and eleventy feeder towns to carry the community. Don't forget about the folks who want to be the founding members of the 100k gift card club! I'm already working on my super-sweet "participant" badge. We all know they're out there, right now, culling their lazy neighbors who STILL haven't started the weeks-long event 24 hours in. Did they drop dead or something? Get detained in North Korea?

Even if the community prizes are intentionally out of reach, so what? EA won't be *forcing* anyone to spend donuts, same as ever. You always have to choose to spend donuts. Just relax and tap happy! I know, it's a strange idea.

    So true.

And to those telling me not to play: Why shouldn't I? It's my right to play it. I want improvements though.

If you showed up and praised every aspect of the game, you would get the same crap from the same people.

The whole gift bag drop off is perplexing to me. I have tons of them but only because I bought several elf houses and added a ton of the holiday trees to the ones I already had, these all pay off big. I'm trying to leave as many bags as I can in other people's towns.... The obvious problem is, most people playing this game don't by the premium content which is totally understandable. So, they are not receiving hardly any gift bags to drop off. Also, in the thousands of gift cards I've earned, I have only received one Krusty Coin... So someone, please explain, what is the positive side to gift bags other than going toward the community prizes? It would make more sense that for every 10 gift bags dropped off in neighbors towns, we'd get a Krusty Coin as immediate incentive to keep trying to earn the gift bags.

You pretty much just said "Giving Christmas gifts to other people, What's in it for me?" Go watch any Christmas movie, and ponder it.

What incentive did you have to place snake eggs in your neighbors town?

Oh holy crap... Are you that ridiculous to try and draw a parallel to dropping off fake gift bags in fake towns in a game to real life? You are missing MY point totally.

I'm going to point you to the part of my comment where I say I am leaving lots of gift bags in my neighbors towns because I am able to. I DO NOT EXPECT My neighbors to be able to receprocate because of the nature of this game and how freemium players can't keep up with premium players I think EA is being really, really, really cheap... You know, stingywith the Krusty Coins by not giving the freemium players some behavioral incentive to keep visiting towns to obtain a Krusty Coin once in a while. I have got one coin to use in one gift bag and I've got lots and lots of gift cards. If I've gotten only one coin, that means most people have got none. I'm not Ebanezer Scrooge but I see that EA is trying to force players into buying Krusty Coins and donuts while providing us with slipshod customer service and inadequate computer server space. Try waiting for three weeks while your game crashes every time you try to visit a neighbor or your Krustyland. So...

Thank you for trying to give me a lesson in charity. If you knew me in real life, you would have never been so quick to speculate as to character.

Only one coin?!?!? How unfair!!!! It's been out for like 36 hours now!!! All that time and only one coin??? Gosh!

I disagree with the people who say that we will get all prizes in the current trend. Rigged or not rigged, the community total is currently on a trajectory to win the first prize and then be stuck halfway through the second. It's been two days and the "total ramps up" argument doesn't make much sense either since we didn't have to wait 24 hours to start Christmas like we did Halloween. To be fair, though, the community prizes minus the Yes Guy are kind of lame and I'm not going to accuse EA of using this as a cash grab. Donut players aren't drooling over any of these prizes. I could even live without Yes Guy.

EA should consider fixing the number of gift bag drops, though. I think that's the problem. (Or it needs to tweak the rigging algorithm. Who's going to want to pay for Candy Cane power plant post-Christmas?) It makes no sense why gift bags are so rare. And even if they were supposed to be rare, then don't make them give out just 2/3 gift cards per bag!

I think this fiasco was the social aspect gone wrong. Maybe EA wanted to reduce the number of bag drops so more people would pay donuts for them but forgot to adjust the community counter or increase the reward that comes from the bag so that they may be worth paying for. This is what happens when software teams don't communicate properly amongst themselves.

They gave us all the Halloween community prizes...conveniently just in time. Obviously a fake counter. Now they made the Christmas community prizes literally impossible to get. Hell, we're on pace to not even get the 1st prize. Do you guys really think they'd to through the effort of programming them into the game and for nothing to ever come of them? Obviously not. This is a money making scheme. They will sell them to us after the event is over for donuts. And the genius part is that they get to act like they weren't greedy. "Hey, we offered it for free, but you tappers just didn't tap enough. Sorry!" What a freaking scam. So transparent. I see right through it. I bet the prizes will be limited time too after we fail to get them. EA does it again.

    You're wrong.

Not saying it isn't just a timer as opposed to an actual counter, but the counter at the start of Halloween was much slower than later in the month. I expect the counter for this update to steadily increase throughout the month as well.

    For sure 100%.

I say we will get all the community prizes by the end of the update and if we don't I'll delete my account.

If we do get them all, you delete yours.

And I'm talking about forum accounts here. NOT TSTO games.

I think they did it because people **** too much about being given free things. "How DARE they just GIVE this stuff away! Who do they think they are." So sure if I was in charge I'd have the community prizes this time around even harder to get. I'd make it so everyone playing had to collect 3 billion presents and donate 3 thousand pints of blood to the Red Cross to get a candy cane. Next time, lets not complain
  • edited December 2013
The Christmas one is a lot less to collect than the Halloween one. We needed 30 billion to get it. That took us forever. You just need to be patient. We're not gonna get it right away. What fun would that be? If you really don't like it that much, you can stop playing and quit whining.

hate everything EA is doing. They are not allowed to make a profit. It's all a giant scam.

I recgnize EA's right to a profit, and have defended it many times. Hell, let them get filthy rich if they can. But I also believe they need to invest some of these riches into game improvements, NAMELY server upgrades. If the community doesn't reach the goal it will be because so many people are frozen out of the game. I have had exactly ONE session that lasted more than 30 seconds since this update. I've been playing since last October and have spent hundreds of dollars on the game, but if Christmas ends and things have not improved to the point where I have the opportunity to complete the quests and earn the rewards, then I have bought my last donut.

My favourite part is all the people that continually open Josh's threads and then * at him, like they don't know what is in the thread. You open a thread STARTED by josh, and you know this because it tells you who started the thread, then proceed to tell him to stop playing.
Maybe you people should start opening the threads in the first place, how bout that. Josh is at least consistent, you guys are the problem.
