The "Cannot Connect to Server" Game

Prev134
I'm over it. It makes me not even want to play. I've tried everything possible, and still can't get it to work.

I have the same issue. It's been happening since the Thanksgiving update. I've tried updating the game, uninstalling and reinstalling and it still has the same issue. EA needs to get on their game and update their servers. Pretty sure with as many players as there are, and every player spending money on donuts there should be enough money to get better servers.

Been trying to log on to 2 towns both at level 37, one on ipad the other on iphone, both load then crash within 30 seconds.
Level 19 town is fine playing that one on ipod.
Tried to load towns 1 and 2 on ipod, no luck.
It's like waking up Christmas morning to find a lump of coal in your stocking

Went to the crashing every 30 seconds thread and timberwuf suggested to delete all friend requests through origin on computer. Worked for me

Mine as well, except mine is during connecting/syncing - or if Im lucky enough to get IN the game, its within 10s of being in game then just goes to the classic 'cannot connect to server' screen.

Im really tired of this, like OP, I too used to get it consistently once on connection. Now after the XMAS update - happens as described above. Makes me just want to delete the game.

    Level 37
    iOS 7
    iPhone 5
    on WiFi for internet
Tried restarting phone / closing all apps (including simpsons) etc.

I checked the game this morning and it is finally working. One welcome addition that I discovered was an icon in the upper left hand corner that shows the characters that are available to assign tasks. It's much easier than trying to track them down. So kudos to EA for that one.

It looks like I spoke too soon. About that morning when it was working; the operative word is "was". It may be raining Christmas presents in Springfield but it doesn't mean anything if you can't play the game long enough, before getting a "Cannot Connect to Server" screen, to do anything about it or anything else to do with the game, including buying golden tickets or donuts which I would think would be in EA's interest. I tried to get past the "Cannot Connect to Server" screen 5 times this afternoon but the Grinches in charge of the servers didn't want me to stay connected. I could have tried it 20 times and it wouldn't have made a difference. EA needs to fix this fast and permanently or else they are going to lose players (not to mention donut buyers). And when they do finally get this problem fixed I can think of a couple of players of this game that deserve some free donuts - all of the players that have had to put up with this example of incompetent programming.

At least you've been able to see the Christmas update, lol. Some of us have not logged in since before the thanks giving update.

1.36 billion dollar profit in 2012 and they cannot fix a server, nice.

They are keeping their profit extra large by not spending money on doing things like fixing server problems. I wonder how long this business strategy is going to work. If enough customers can't play their games there will be no more customers.

I haven't been able to get in since Wednesday morning. I've payed real money for doughnuts to make the most of this game, and this is how EA rewards me.

Stck on splash screen, then just "can't connect to the server".

Tried everything - dumnped pending friends requests, powered iPhone down, have even trashed the game and re-installed fresh new copy from iTunes.

    NOTHING!

Put in a request to tech suport - 2 canned responses, then nothing. EA site says to allow 14 days for response for tech support.

    ****! :( :x

I had no problems after the update but tonight on my ipad 4 it was crashing to the.cannot connect to server screen every 30 seconds or.so after getting in to my town. I removed pending friends, still no luck. I did a uninstall and reinstalled, while updating the game on ipad I got on my galaxy note 2 and.played for.several minutes no.connect to the server screen issue. After reinstalling was done in the ipad my town is.working just fine. If you have two devices try it, idk if it maters than one is droid and one Iis pple but it might, good luck to everyone

This solution was short lived, im back to the cannot connect to server every 30 seconds after getting in my town. But playing on my droid, syncing and then switching to the ipad does seem to help for a little bit.

Now into the third day of the "Cannot Connect to Server" game. (Or could it be the 4th?) If it makes it to day 7 (or if I'm patient, day 10) I'm probably going to trash this game PERMANENTLY and make it a point never to download another EA game. I'll probably then just buy some game like Bookworm where you don't have to be connected to a server to play and once you've bought it you're done. So EA has 4 to 7 days to get their act together or no more donut purchases from me.

It's Day 4 of the "Cannot Connect to Server" game and the problem hasn't gotten any better. I tried 10 times to get past the server reconnecting routine and into the game and 5 times this morning. This isn't merely a lump of coal in your Christmas stocking. It is a steaming dog turd. The banner above on this forum may say that "This game is life-ruiningly fun!" but from my experience right now it is merely life-ruining. After 7 to 10 days of this, if this problem has not been resolved, I'm going to delete this game and find something else to play - hopefully something not requiring a server connection to play and hopefully something not put out by EA. This game has totally soured me on EA's products and reputation.

Thanks for the attempt to help but I'm using an iPod Touch and wi-fi is my only means to being connected so that doesn't address the problem but thanks anyway.

This was also a topic on EA own help site. There was a suggestion that friend invites were preventing the connection (don't ask me, I have no idea how it would prevent connection). Some reported deleting all their friend invite (or accepting them if under 100) worked. This was not universally applauded but can hurt to try it.

I have downloaded Orgin App to my PC (I'm Android) and delete them there

I am facing the same problem. It's impossible to play the game without it getting disconnected. It takes me forever to connect to the server. Somehow I thought it would be easy to play the game but all these server issues I doubt I will be able to complete the challenges.

Now into Day 5 (didn't get a chance to post yesterday, but it was the same results) of the "Cannot Connect to Server" game. I faced 10 "Cannot Connect to Server" screens before I gave up. Not looking good. I haven't decided whether I'm going to wait until Day 7 or Day 10 to nuke "The Simpsons: Tapped Out" and make good on my promise to never get another EA game ever (or one that requires a server connection to operate) but so far it is looking like it is going to happen. 5 days is much too long to have a game out of commission.
