You don't need to do them, but they do help generate more coins.

I have all my houses and the Volcano Lair decorated and I think they look pretty! I plan on leaving the brown house campground lights up and Cletus farm after Christmas because there are neighborhoods everywhere where people do that and annoy all the other neighbors. Might leave the Flanders up too because it amuses me with the Nativity scene on the roof.

I have a dummy account that I created to meet the friends requirement before I actually started real-live friends and it doesn't have any premium items and no friends. The coinage is slow going and I don't think the tasks will be completed in time. The houses help but having friends with decorated houses helps even more.

Figure 100 friends = 300 coins a days. You need 150 for Mapple store, 250 for Bowl-a-Rama, 450 for Try N Save, 750 for a funzo so you can get, 1500 Santa's Helper = 3200 coins or 11 days of collecting from friends. If you are not decorated, then your friends will delete you and add somebody who is.

So....houses decorated are vital to your progression for the simple fact that you cannot complete the tasks without using your friends. Well, you could but it would involve spending actual money to speed things up.

Cost = 50 coins. Payoff = 10 coins immediately + 5 coins every 24 hours. Why would you not decorate?

You get enough coins in 2 days to decorate all your buildings and build the Mapple store. I've got all houses decorated, the Mapple store built, and over 500 coins saved up. Unless you hate Christmas, decorate away!

If you don't want to waste coins, you can save it and spending them in the buildings first, and then decorate all your houses. But make sure to decorate al least three kind of houses (Simpsons, Flanders, Brown) so you can be at the same time a good neighbourino!

I don't have the volcano lair but have got the option of decorating it...gonna see if buying the decoration next is a back handed way of getting the lair and saving donuts - will update you as to success. Waiting for origin to come back up to collect a few more Santa coins so I can test my theory....

You can't buy it if you don't have it. What I don't understand is why does it still show that I have decoration tasks pending when I do not have those buildings? Shouldn't it go away if I have decorated everything that I have?

So here's a question for someone who has been playing since October and has yet to add one friend, if someone comes and sees that I have coins that need to be picked up off a decorated house, does my friend only get credit for the coins or do I also?

Decorate and be a good neighbour as previously stated.

If you got lots of friends you should be collecting loads of coins that way anyhow so it won't take you long to save up for all the decorations and buildings.

Also there are the Christmas tasks you can send characters on and with the coins collected from decorated building I reckon you'll end up have more than you'll need, just like the Halloween treats.

Sure it will make the whole Christmas theme work a lot better in your town if you decorate and make you town look nice and pretty especially if you've spent loads of time making it look good in the first place.

I don't know if they can even see your coins are ready. All they are doing is collecting regularly from your house and getting an extra coin from the houses that are decorated.

You will get 5 coins per colour of house decorated per 24hrs, so don't worry if you have friends that come and visit.

Adding friends will make collecting coins easier for you, as you can collect up to 3 coins per friend visited who has decorated houses that are ready to collect from, oh and the Christmas tree also generates a coin that can also be collected.

The sooner you build up your houses with decorations, the sooner you can get items. If you want to get a jump on the Mapple Store and Barney's Bowlarama, this is the way to do it. I am getting near 100 coins a day with Santa's Village, 3 friends and collecting from houses. Do it!

It seems this is confusing some people. There are two timers for every decorated house. one for santa coins, and another for normal income ($ and xp). YOU will only collect 5 santa coins per color house once every 24 hours. This is different than the normal timer, for when money is ready to collect. Once normal money and xp is ready, your friend can collect Santa coins from the house. They do not have to wait until the 24 hour mark when YOU can collect. (This is why you collect Santa coins from houses that don't have a Santa coin floating above them, but instead a dollar sign.) this hasn't changed anything about what you collect. It only resets the normal non-Santa coins timer, so it will never affect the time you collect Santa coins at.
So in short, when a friend visits a decorated house, your friend gets Santa coins, all you get is a reset timer for normal money & xp.

I got a late start on Christmas and I have all of my houses decorated. You get 10 coins for decorating so it really costs you 40 coins to decorate. 5 coins per 24 hrs per house type, visiting friends, tasks etc means you will have plenty of coins in the end as long as you stay active. I have Mapple store building now. About 12 hrs left. Plus having all your houses decorated not only looks nice but makes you an awesome neighborino

I don't have the volcano lair or Frink's lab, but have everything else decorated. My decoration task went away without having the two premium buildings decorated.

You might check to make sure that all of your buildings are decorated. If you built more or took houses out of storage after buying the decoration for that house type then you have to manually apply the decoration facade. I see A LOT of my neighbors that do not have all of a certain type of houses decorated even though some of them are. Maybe having no undecorated buildings (perhaps including those in storage?) is what makes the task go away.

    .

Thanks for the reminder. I had 1 blue house in storage. I then realized I still have purple and Cletus farm to decorate. Waiting on more coins to decorate the farm and then it should go away

I would like to ask those players that already completed this task!, is it necessary to spend so many coins on decorating houses? Does completing this task lead to another?, or should I just save my santa coins for other tasks??
    Please respond and thanks!
    One decoration=50-10(quest completed)= 40.
And it takes 8+1=9 days to get 40 Santa Coins from this decoration.
    So yes.

How come you don't get coins for all the houses " farmed or multiple houses

I think this encourages people to check in often, and not make extra houses to cash in on coin collecting. Plus, this gives everybody an opportunity to make more friends in the game! Overall, if you check in regularly, you should be just fine to make a bunch of santa coins when you have all the houses.

Plus, I think EA would rather us buy Santa's village and additional trees, rather than "coin farm."
