Ok...end rant. As you were.
Thanks! I hope to keep the creative juices flowing that's if EA can release some land so I can keep it up or else I might just start to break stuff or cram stuff in which I think loses the point of creativity.
Spot on. It's like they have more time to post and wait for an answer when an answer could be right there.
"EA is doing statistics based on your moods, habits, play time and etc. You guys are just lab rats being tested on unless you are aware of it. "
I don't have a problem with this at all. Knowing what we like and don't like, what we are and aren't willing to spend real-world money on, helps the devs make more money, sure. But it also helps them make the game better for us by giving us more of what we clearly like, and less of what we clearly don't.
I don't mind spending real-world money on the occasional donut splurge, because it makes the game more fun for me and compensates EA for this excellent game, from which I've gotten countless hours of fun. Considering the many $50 - $70 console games lots of people buy and love, I really don't get why some people---and I'm not saying this is YOU, OP---think it's some kind of rip-off to spend real-world money on an app they get just as many hours of entertainment from (if not more: my son typically 'beats' a console game in less than a week and I've been playing TSTO daily, nonstop, since July).
I also don't know why so many people---again, not saying this is YOU, OP---seem to think there's something sleazy about EA setting up incentives in the game to get people to spend real-world money. It's a great game, the devs deserve to be compensated, and it's entirely possible to play the game without ever spending a single real-world dollar and still complete all the mainline quests. It's not like those so-called "free" apps that have pre-determined limits where you eventually hit a wall and stay stuck until you fork over real money.
I'm one of those who spent donuts to get extra tokens, but I went into the Christmas update expecting and planning to spend real-world money. If it warms my cockles to see my little Springfield all done up in Christmas lights and snow people, if it amuses me to have Plow King and Mr. Plow duking it out, it's money no less well-spent than the money others might spend on console games, amusement park tickets, gambling in Vegas, nightclubbing, concert tickets, or any other kind of entertainment.
I can agree with you re: not feeding the trolls and not duplicating threads. I haven't been playing long enough to relate to the land shortage so many long-timers are frustrated with, but I expect I'll get there eventually.
LOL ya was multitasking. At least my point got across.
This is a manual transmission....
This week I was reading an article how the government has been spying on World of Warcraft users, and it made me think about this game. Interesting times we live in.
You had me right up until you started judging people for the way they play their own games. Then I just thought you were a ****.
Very well thought response.
Too start off its way deeper than just knowing what we like and don't like. There's a bigger agenda.
I agree spending some money is not that bad because of the longevity this game can have and entertaining as well as the frequent updates compared to other games. Just like if you have a hobby which you know you spend money on all the time if you can get a break or deal wouldn't you go for it? Just like any kind of entertainment as you stated, same thing applies here.
Same here, I joined the forum to get help and ideas
Totally can not understand why anyone would complain about a post ....
You know , if you don't want to know don't read...der
Keep up the good work guys, you too Josh..keep stiring the pot...lol
Ya and that's old news, mainstream just let it out because it was all over alternative news for years now so how long can government keep things on the hush. WAIT I retract my statement. Government is our best friend and tells us everything.
This isn't even half of the **** we are under and not just us this whole world. But people don't pay attention to details because of the many distractions they shove down our throat. ESPECIALLY something everyone has in their house. It's called the idiot box.
It's interesting how every online message board and forum has its own character. Somethings are present in EVERY forum: Trolls, for one. This forum (and maybe this is a recent development, as I'm fairly new here) seems overrun with people who have a VERY strong idea of how people should play the game and how people should post on the forum and are very overbearing in telling other people that their methods of play and posting are WRONG. This seems very unique to this forum. I suspect that the general forum population may be slightly less sophisticated than average. This is a game that attracts people from all ages and all walks of life. That's a good thing, but perhaps that's why you see so many "complaints," multiple threads, pranks, trolling and just plain goofiness.
If you think your post is part of the solution, you're wrong. It's part of the problem. You try to soften your comments by claiming: "This is more of my opinion then a complaint." But your post is a complaint. It's a screed. So, you complain about people who complain, but YOUR complaint is DIFFERENT: It's just opinion. And BTW, you're no better than the so-called "complainers" you inveigh against. You end your post complaining (and whining, in my opinion) about the lack of new land! Oh, but your complaining is different. It's opinion. Right.
I agree with your advice regarding trolls: It's best to ignore them and move on to the parts of the forum that are valuable to you. I humbly suggest you take your own very good advice. Why do people get so upset about the so-called "complainers?" It's a DISCUSSION FORUM, you know, for DISCUSSING the game. People have opinions. Sometimes people have different opinions than yours. Fine, discuss these opinions, but why argue and fight about the very fact that you don't like someone's opinion? Try to change their mind, try to see their side, or better yet, ignore the people and posts you find annoying. It's really that easy. I am 99% successful at this, but obviously, I can't help myself either, sometimes.
If I could join in in the forum past time of trying to impose my ideals and values on the rest of the group, I would wish for this: Everyone would stop commenting on HOW people post (unless, of course, it is clearly a personal attack, foul language, etc.) and spend more time commenting on WHAT people post. Let's not be so afraid of opposite opinions. If something seems repetitious, or annoying, or dumb, either try to educate in a constructive way or just move on. Quit all the bickering. Let's just talk.
Anyway, just some food for thought.
Yes, there are an incredible number of multiple threads for one topic but not everyone on the forum is a daily user. You can search for keywords on subjects but the results are usually incomplete, misleading or total crap. My biggest pet peeve regarding multiple posts is when someone (newbie) asks a question and instead of being polite and answering someone posts a comment saying "I'm so sick of all these threads about _ " Or when someone copies and pastes URL without a link. How is that easier than just answering the question?
Trolls... Already given them too much attention with what I just said. Didn't take 13 sentences. Oh and I didn't berate other people in the process.
LAND! As I have said before and will continue to say, this is an individual game. People create their own town as they choose. And that's their own prerogative - as well as the definition of creativity. Good for you that you like your town as is and won't be buying anymore land, but there are some of us that do want more land. No one should be criticized for lack of creativity for how they play a game!
I would also like to add that some of your personal comments were a little nasty. I'm not trying to be rude but I think most people joined/read the forum for answers to questions or ways to improve or add to their enjoyment of the game. NOT to read that they are dumb, spoiled brats and/or have no lives.
I totally agree with this. Maybe I'm computer illiterate (actually, I know I'm not), but I've rarely been able to get good results from searches on forums. I mean, it's possible, but you have to dig quite a bit. And sometimes you might not find EXACTLY what you're looking for. If you're new to the forum, you're likely new to the subject, so even the more "advanced" ideas can seem repetitive to the forum veteran.
Interesting pov.
Honestly I wouldn't have made this if I wasn't sick today and obviously bored.
I never told anyone how to play their game. All I nearly said was be smart about it and even if you don't want to be smart about it I was just pointing out how it's possible to get everything free from the wheel and EA took a chance to milk it is all.
I don't know how you saw the ending of my post as complaining? I was just merely suggesting and asking. Cause either way I have to deal with it so no point of getting upset or complain about it.
Some people do actually express their opinion everyone has a right but a straight up negative complaint is unnecessary. Especially if its been discussed numerous time in the FIRST page of the forum and you start a thread complaining when you could have just say what you wanted to say in the thread and people would have ignored it or replied.
Also some people here get offended too fast. So that's just another thing all in itself. LOL
My thread was not to be a solution, just merely some food for thought.
I wasn't even suggesting that people use the search function...just a quick browse of the thread topics from the first 2 pages. Christmas just started, so of course christmas related threads will be right in the first few pages of the forum. People don't even look to see if there is a thread just like theirs a few inches down from the one they just created.
I didn't mean for this to get all complainy...it was just a good opportunity to vent, and i don't do that very often at all.
