I just read that this has been going on for over 3 hours for some people. That is completely unacceptable. IF they knew that their servers could not handle the demand, then why the heck did they advertise it so extensively thereby ensuring that there would be thousands of players? IF they knew that their game was too buggy to go live then why do so? OH I KNOW, because they knew those same new players who didn't know better would spend actual money.
All they had to do was not make having friends vital to the success of this update, that is what is causing all the crashing. Everybody was forced to max out at 100 friends in order to complete the tasks. Idiots, great planning there.

It's been over 3 hours for me. I just hope they resolve it and this problem doesn't come back multiple times in the next few weeks.
People need to relax. I'm sure people there have experiences server outages before. Things happen and you have to have patience. You can't expect a global problem to be fixed so quickly, it takes time.
I was just thinking that I could either A: create the Social Studies study guide for my 4th grader to help him with his test this week or B: finish the laundry but instead I'm choosing to be super productive and select option C: Catch up on Say Yes To The Dress: Bridesmaids. I love me some puke colored tulle drama!
I hear ya..love tulle and disgruntled bridesmaids/sisters. I also had the thought that perhaps I should go grocery shopping..but that would require a change of clothes and effort. So, it's a Walking Dead kind of afternoon!
I'll add you if I ever get back to my beloved Springfield.

LOL. I have to delete somebody but you're cracking me up so I'm making room for you!
this EXACT problem happens about once a week - you will not lose your town or friends - once the issue is resolve then everything will be back to normal.

Got my town back but still no Origin button. I was hoping to collect all the Santa Coins right now as i've waited 24 hours but none of my friends are showing. This is annoying, i want to purchase the Try-N-Save!!! Just hope its all sorted by tomorrow morning.
I was able to log in by doing this, tap Bart/millhouse, tap the "it's a social game for crying out loud" button, and the ORGIN buttons come up. Let me back in and all my neighbors came back.

Ok, it is 4pm in EST (16:00). I still have my game and device completely shut down awaiting feedback/news.
I posted to other thread in Game Status re my 'disappearing friends' issue which occurred after a typical crash. Last i checked my town was fine but friends gone except 'Other Springfield'.
Upon learning this was a widespread issue, I shut down the game AND device entirely, in hopes not to lose my Springfield as I see that is a risk when EA and Origin servers aren't 'talking'.
Prior to the friendlessness discovery, I had a maxed-out list of 100 friends, and a growing "pending" list. I am unsure how many Pending as i was going in to delete a few who were inactive for 2 or more days and add new requests (finding i had no 'friends' anymore ... geez this mimics 'real life' lately a little too much lol! They all abandoned me! kidding; well sorta, ok not really- life sux lately)
Anyway...
I want to know if/when it is "safe" to attemp login and get back to business of the all-important Christmas coin collecting I am waiting in attemp to not fool with it and worsen the situation inadvertently.

Relax. It's going to come back up sooner or later.

Going on 5 hours now for my 'non-access' issue, but looking better now that friends are visiting.
