If you watch them closely, sometimes they will go to the door of a house, and then gift cards will appear, when there was no present or gift bag there before.
The question I have is, how many gift cards will they give you? And does this number change if you have gifts already? What I mean is, if they will give you 100 gift cards, but you have 20 gifts, will it deduct those cards from the total that they will give you? Has anybody really figured out the mechanics of this at all?
from what i understand there are 4 elves per elf house. when you release them they collect all gift bags/presents. from what i understand each elf can give free gifts to 9 houses.
so they collect all of the ones laying around AND add up to 36 free gift bags/presents turning into gift cards.
edit: i usually get over 100 gift cards from my elf house. i collect the presents i see first. when i release the elves their job is to find the hidden presents and to give me free ones.
My quest for placing their home is done cause its on my screen n not in the inventory but it doesn't let me click complete like all the other tasks do when ur done. What's the deal? Since it says "better than a garden gnome" do I have to place it in front of a house for the quest to be completed or is this a glitch?

Not sure what you are doing. just place the Elf house anywhere that is valid all the green squares underneath. I don't recall an quest for it
