New player tips & tricks for max income

Plant moonshine and leave it so neighbors can tap it. You will get money for each handshake you tap but always leave the last one.

A guide on how to do it

http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/9793270.page

Also, send your characters on the shortest tasks you can. If you can check every hour put them on 1hr tasks. If you are working/sleeping set the tasks so they will finish when you next check.

If you REALLY enjoy the game, go for the store/boat load of donuts. Then pick up some characters with/without buildings. The more characters you have, the more money you can earn. The fastest route is with character tasks. The more tasks, the more money you can earn.

Getting a store full or boatload can be simple to. Just buy iTunes/Google Play cards. Only have $10 a week? No problem, just buy $10 gift cards. Then when you reach $50 or $100 in the store, buy the store or the boat. Simple.

If you are super tight, there are numerous sales with gift cards at 10%-20% off, just have to find them.

If you're not getting enough taps on your farm, create one or two "feeder" accounts. Add them as friends and then you can tap your farm yourself, three times a day, per account. Once you get to level 22 or so and build the Channel 6, then the money will really start pouring in, $5k per tap. Just be patient.

Sure, it's a pain to log in and log out of multiple accounts, but it's also a pain to house farm. And this way takes up less space.

    ## Extremely long post incoming! My apologies! ##

Tip #1 - Although you've already said you don't want a house farm, I honestly think a lot of people grossly underestimate just how helpful a house farm can be when you're just starting off.

I was sort of against the concept at first, like you, but after I started building one up (I used blue houses, by the way) I found that my cash generation was so much better than it had been previously, and from then on I didn't really struggle to purchase any of the buildings that I wanted/needed throughout the levelling process.

Many people see house farms as rather unsightly (and believe me, I've had friends who's ENTIRE TOWNS are just houses) but its entirely possible to have a "house farm" but design it in such a way that it simply looks like rows of houses in a neighbourhood or cul-de-sac. My advice for you is to buy a patch of land or two, and start off small - even if you have the cash to buy a load of houses, buy a few at first and decorate them as you see fit. Continue to add to it over time, and you'll be able to design a house farm that isn't entirely off-putting while also profiting considerably from it.

Alternatively, you can do what I did: build yourself a pretty sizeable house farm and grit your teeth and bare it for the time being. Get yourself to max level, accumulate a decent amount of money to sit on (for future updates/vanity items) and then slowly start to remove your house farm and replace it with different buildings as you see fit. I've reduced the size of my house-farm by about 50% and now I only have a few blue houses plus some Kwik-e-Marts/Gulp N' Blows (to maintain my 5* conform-o-meter bonus). Its worthwhile doing, you'll see results.

Tip #2 - On the topic of the conform-o-meter, don't underestimate how much the bonus can do for you. At the early levels, you'll struggle to keep some of the parameters high such as Indolence as you won't have too many houses, but definitely be concious of it and actively work to try and keep it up wherever possible. For each 1 overall star you can maintain, you gain an additional 1% bonus to your XP and money - an overall 5 star rating gives you a relatively sizeable 5% bonus.

Tip #3 - Again, following on from that, during holiday events, there are normally opportunities to pick up items that offer additional bonuses to your XP and cash. Always work towards trying to get as many of these as possible, as once you have them in your town they'll provide a bonus forever, which really helps with the levelling+cash gathering process. If you're willing to spend money, there are some great items you can buy that will help to increase your bonuses for a relatively low cost. Check on Google for some guides on which items are best for this if you're interested.

Tip #4 - Don't rush to work on Squidport/Krustyland too early on in your TSTO career. While both of them might seem extremely fun to dive into, it won't be long before you're sinking endless amounts of money into new buildings for Squidport that honestly return very little back, and Krustyland doesn't even benefit your Springfield AT ALL - until you've got a nice stack of money to keep up with your levelling process, its usually best to focus solely on your Springfield and work on Krustyland/Squidport once you can manage the costs of it all at the same time.

Tip #5 - I tell most of my friends to do this and I suggest you do the same - once you've earned 30 donuts, Squeaky Voiced Teen is a highly advised purchase. Although you can win him from a Mystery Box (which is what many people prefer to wait for) he is a fantastic purchase at the early stages of the game and since his tasks earn you a premium rate, you'll be accumulating money that extra bit faster. (Be aware that his 60m task requires the Gilded Truffle, his 4h requires the premium building the Aztec Theatre, his 8h requires Jake's Unisex Hair Palace and his 12h requires the Java Server, so until you've unlocked some of the above, you will be restricted to his 24h job. Arguably he's still worth getting as his 24h job earns a pretty nice 1000 cash and 225XP, but if you like some variety in your tasks it might be worth holding out until you unlock some of the higher-level buildings. His 24h job is outdoors and looks pretty cool as a nice bonus, though)

Bonus Tip - I'm sure you've probably done this already, but I was around your level before I discovered this neat little easter egg - set Homer to do a short outdoor task such as "play with his myPad", and while he's doing this, quickly tap on him 10 times. He'll probably make a lot of comments and the task list will continually pop up, but continue to do it - if you manage to do it successfully, you'll be rewarded with the free Jebediah Statue and 10 bonus donuts!

Additional Tip I just thought of - When you start hitting the higher levels (30+) you might start to find some of the buildings are a little rich for your blood. As a general rule of thumb, whenever a new update is released, all of the newer buildings tend to come down a step in price. If you want a particular building but don't want to spend lots of money on it, it can sometimes be worth waiting it out for an update or two for the price to come down to a reasonable level.

Sorry for the rather lengthy post, but I hope at least some of this helps you! Let me know how you get on. Best of luck! :)

Love the length of that post

Shorter length tasks more frequently, provide better rewards than long tasks but need regular playing. House farm wise, depends on how patient you are. If you want to get all the buildings faster its really the only way unless you spend money raising your multiplier

I try my best - I remember when I started this game and didn't use the forums/friend function for a long time so it took me ages even to find my feet, haha.

Also, not only do premium characters pay out at 150% the normal rate, but REGULAR characters get the bonus when they perform a task connected to a premium building.

For example, the Aztec Theatre unlocks Bart's 3-hour "sneak into an r-rated movie," and Comic-Book Guy's 6-hour "watch and despise a movie."
The Observatory unlocks Martin and Skinner's 6-hour "stargaze"
Others include Homer and Ned's 20-hour bowling at Barney's Bowl-a-Rama, Kirk's 8-hour work at the cracker factory, Agnes's be a greeter at Sprawl-Mart, Nelson shooting the car with bb's, Burns and Smithers riding the Ferris Wheel.
    Etc.

I would also recommend purchasing the premium decoration that unlocks the 4-hour "Live News Report" at Channel 6 (can't remember whether that's the van or the antenna). It pays out $1500 every 4 hours.

If you don't want to house farm, tappables (a.k.a. glitches) are the quickest way to build up cash and xp.

You've already started with Cletus' farm, but here's a few more tips:

I somewhat disagree with this. Starting Squidport early is important to start building tiles for a few reasons.

    a) Neighbors are more likely to tap SP tiles because it pays out a big XP bonus for them. The other tappables don't.
    b) Squidport is easy to find.
    c) If EA ever decides to fix the glitch, you'll be so glad you have a stockpile of tiles.

You only need to build the Squidport entrance and then postpone building out the rest of it until you have enough tiles and cash.

Disagree with this. While SVT is the cheapest premium character in the game, he becomes no more useful at earning cash and XP as any other premium character as you progress through the game. As he pointed out, you can get him for free eventually. When you get to the Level 23 quests and build Channel 6, Arnie Pye's "Broadcasting Arnie Pye" task pays out $7500 and 2100XP per tap which is the second highest payout after Growing Corn. He's more expensive at 85 donuts but is a better earner than SVT. [/quote]

Once you get your Squidport tile up for neighbors to tap, move your farm close to it and make it easy to find. Remember you're one of many neighbors, so people want to get in and out of your town and onto the rest of their neighbors as quickly as possible. The same goes for Channel 6 when you get to that level.

Lastly, this game is based on "You help me, I'll help you." so tap your neighbor's glitches. If they don't return the taps, then find neighbors who will.
