Pretty sure EA would rather you buy donuts than house farm.

There is nothing wrong with house farming. I thought we lived in 2014. When will the prejudice stop?

Didn't EA just reduce the costs for the buildings? I swear I just read that on the forum.
I started my main town in March. I thought building costs were high and it took about 5 or 6 months to get all of the buildings and become flush with cash. I started a feeder town during the Thanksgiving update. The building costs have come down a lot since my first town.

Depends on what you mean by house farming. I never build a house farm per se. But to get my 5 star rating you have to add houses to keep up your indolence.

What I dislike is House farmer justifying themselves by stating House farming is the only way to go. By following the quest line you are also creating new sources of income from the buildings and characters you earn.

My own belief is that we have lost a few players because they read House farming is the only way to go. They do it get bored or go on disability from tapping out their fingers on a 100 blue houses. House farming may be one way to play the game but it is not the only way.

I have around two of each type of house plus everything freemium in the game and although at first I had to wait a few days after content release to afford the new buildings, I now have too much expendable cash.

I think I enjoyed the game more when I didn't have so much cash backed up as it felt like an achievement to finally be able to purchase items.

Just like what almost everyone else in your thread stated, I just sent my characters on their longest tasks once a day, and when I finally bought my last square of land, the money just rolled in. About 4m worth now in about 3 months, I only housefarmed a tiny section of land for a little while when I was saving up before the last 144,000 plot of land, but it didn't really change much. I grew corn twice and WAY before I knew about stacking handshakes. The courthouse was a minor dent, and I can almost taste the chrome and red velevet ropes encircling the worlds largest cubic zirconium now (I am a chrome licker!! Yes, licker). I digress. What you need, our new forum friend, is patience, neighbors, and time. A lot of time!

    Happy tapping!

Normal is a relative assessment, why do you think it's normal not to farm?

Stacking corn handshakes gives you the same effect as house farming without requiring the space or time to tap them all. I've been playing since Christmas 2012 and got to the max level without house farming. I decided to start because the 450k price tag was getting tough to pay for. But then I realized the most advantageous part of it. The bonus xp. I'm a 100% freemium player and with all the extra houses I would level up much quicker and always have 100k to be sure I got 3 donuts each time. So far I have been able to accumulate enough free donuts to buy duff, the casino, moleman, and SVT. But again, the corn will get you the same results without the hassle of farming as it will require about as much time to set up a massive house farm.

I've been playing for just over a year and am only just starting not to feel the pinch when new content comes out. I'm a totally fermium player and have not house farmed although I do have streets of the same houses done out like a community. I only just finished buying all the land.

Played for nearly a year, never purchased donuts, have all the buildings you can get for cash plus loads of land and decorations. Never house farmed but have about 2 million saved up. It can be done.

You definitely do not need to house farm. Just pick what jobs you give your people wisely. I give everyone 4 hour jobs in the morning, and after lunch, overnight I give them 8 or 12 hour jobs. I have a good amount of land, and 5 stars (4.5 right now because my righteousness went down to 1 star). I was even able to buy the popsicle tower recently, and still had enough to build the courthouse.

How can a level 38 player with premiums who is using stackable buildings be short on cash?

I'm a 100% free player and I don't really farm... I had 2 mill when the update came out. I started playing when the * Patricks day promo was on. Maybe you're still too new?

Best way to make money is to play every hour.. But thats if you have the time. I set my characters every 60 minutes and it takes me like 2 minutes to collect all the money and set the tasks for another 60 minutes. From each character you will make $560 after 8 hours instead of $270.

Rome wasn't built in a day and the same goes for my Springfield. It took about 8 months of grinding (without farming) to acquire all the land and buildings up to that point. Having said that, I didn't have KL and SP to worry about which by their release I was fully accomplished.

I've wondered myself that if I were starting this game today instead of 2012 I would be feeling exasperated and overwhelmed by all the things yet to get AND trying to participate in the events. I can understand the lure of housefarming, but it's not my choice.

You're just like me! I haven't spent any donuts and already have all the quest buildings except 3, the office of unemployment, the court and the knowledgeum. Then I have about 4 buildings I need to build that aren't to do with quests. I don't have too much land but I am saving up to buy it all then I will start my redesign! Yay :-D

P.s I have already moved all my buildings to the corner in preparation for the redesign!
