Ideas EA could do to give more options to players

What about a "you choose the outcome" quest-line, like the story books we read as kids?
Different responses/choices direct the quest-line one way or the other.
Different directions could even yield different (one-time?) characters/decorations/buildings.

I like both ideas... I'd totally love a bbq quest AND a "choose your own" type quest!!!! I'm in!

Who says events have to be annual and follow holidays? Why not have like a random bbq event to follow the bbq from the show.

    Homer triggers:

Homer: "Ned you're having a bbq without me"
    Ned: "Sorry Homer Flanders only"
Homer: "Yeah well I'm gonna have my own bbq"
    Ned: "Can I come"
    Homer: Sure, DOH"

Task - Make Homer make invitations - 60 minutes

    Homer triggers:

    Homer: "There, all done"
Lisa: "Dad you can't have a bbq it's barberic?"
Homer: "No honey Barbers cut hair, this is more like a picnic"
Lisa: "UGGG! If anyone needs me I'll be in my room"

Tasks - Make Lisa yell ug in her room - 4 hours. Make Homer invite neighbors - 4 hours.

    Bart triggers:

Bart: "Hey Dad can I invite Milhouse"
    Homer: "Which 1 is he"
Bart: "Dad he's my best friend"
Homer: "Is he the 1 who laughs at everyone"
    Bart: "No that's Nelson"
Homer: "I thought it was Dr. Hibbert"

Task - Make Bart invite Milhouse - 60 minutes.

    Apu triggers:

Apu: "Mr. Simpson news all over town is that you're having a bbq"
    Homer: "Indeed I am"
Apu: "Well in that case I must warn you that all of my food is now double in price"
Homer: "Oh no! I better stock up before it goes any higher"

Tasks - Make Homer buy meat at the Kwik E Mart - 24 hours. Make Apu sell meat at the Kwik E Mart - 24 hours.

    Marge triggers:

Marge: "I can't believe you're throwing a bbq without telling me"
Homer: "I do lots of stuff without telling you"
Marge: "That's it I'm inviting my Sisters"
    Homer: "WAIT"

Task - Make Marge invite Patty and Selma - 60 minutes.

    Chief Wiggum triggers:

Wiggum: "Boys word is there's a bbq being held at the Simpsons house"
    Lou: "Chief we're on duty"
Wiggum: "Lots of animals died to feed the town Lou"
Eddie: "Call it a murder investigation then eh Chief?"
Wiggum: "And people call us dumb"

Task - Make Wiggum let all the prisoners out for the bbq - 12 hours.

    Burns triggers:

Burns: "So they are having a bbq and we weren't invited"
Smithers: "Sir it's just a small event at a nobody's house"

Smithers: "Homer Simpson Sir from Sector 7-G"
Burns: "Simpson eh. Well we're not missing this"

Task - Make Burns invite himself - 60 minutes.

    Moe trigggers:

Moe: "Homer what are you doing about booze?"
Homer: "I'm still drinking Duff on a daily basis"
Moe: "No I meant for your bbq?"
Homer: "They can get their own"
Moe: "I'll take care of it"

Task - Make Moe water down beer for the bbq - 24 hours.

    Ned triggers:

    Ned: "Howdy Doodily Neighbor"
Homer: "What do you want Flanders?"
Ned: "I'm here for the bbq"
Homer: "OH NO I forgot that's today"

Tasks - Make Springfielders attend the bbq (x20) - 12 hours

    Marge triggers:

Marge: "Look at this mess. This is why I was against this"
Homer: "It sure was fun though"
Marge: "Well let's get started with cleaning"
Homer: "Yeah you do that, I'll be at Moes"
    Marge: "WAIT"
Homer: "Can't hear you I'm out the door"

Tasks - Make Marge clean up - 8 hours, Make Homer drink at Moes 8 hours.

    GOAL COMPLETE.

Dialogue by me but inspired by the show.

I like it. They should release a barbecue decoration with a visible task for Homer and Flanders in his hail the chef apron.

I would like to see multiple lines through an event. This way when real friends and I play on our phones it isn't one person always in the lead on the story line. All tasks must be done, but there are several ways to get through them.

It would also be cool + funny if Lisa could have a pro-vegetarian quest line.

Hey I said inspired by the show.

The bbq concept and my first paragraph to set up the questline were borrowed from Season 7 episode Lisa the Vegetarian but the rest of it is COMPLETELY my own original writing. Not bad for 20 minutes on the spot either if I must say so 8)

You should include no one off tasks so we can play through it on our own.

oh and since I got 3 pm's here and a few of my friends have asked maybe I'll write some more questlines this weekend when I have more time. I'm happy to see all the positive feedback. I actually have several screenplays for episodes I wrote but sadly they only accept scripts from their same writing staff they've had for over 20 years which to me is why the show is so stale but whatever.

Sadly true. People like Al Jean are a big part of that. I've heard a lot of good writers have left/stay away because they know their ideas will be shot down.

I'm OK with the "choose your own quest" idea, but I don't like the idea that I wouldn't be able to get everything the game has to offer. There have been similar suggestions about offering extremely rare items that not everybody would be able to get. I think that the infamous Spin Wheel at Christmas was an attempt at that. What happened then? Everybody was up in arms that they couldn't get everything.

I'm a completionist. I "need" to have at least one of everything. I have spent lots of real dollars on donuts to ensure that I do have at least one of everything. I know that there are many other players who also "need" to have everything as well. If EA changes the game so that the players can't have everything, then some of us might not feel the compulsive need to keep buying donuts to acquire everything. Sort of a "once the cycle is broken" thing. So I'm not sure it would be the best business move for them.

I certainly don't "need" everything, but I sure do like the opportunity to be able to get everything. That wheel drove me crazy!

I contacted them with a business letter and a copy of 1 of my treehouse of horror scripts back in 2006 but it was sent back with a letter thanking me for taking the time to write it but saying it was not read due to legal reasons and they weren't interested in hiring any new writers. It was at least a professional rejection and they sent me a free poster for the upcoming Simpsons movie.
