You've pretty much covered all the obvious ones, I think.

Tried to brainstorm something that might fit, but not sure what I came up with would be all that desirable. XD

Rent-a-Bike racks - The shopping carts you mentioned brought these to mind. I don't know how it is in the US, but here where I live, we have to use a coin/medallion to unlock a cart from the stack, to use it for shopping, like renting it. Bike riding here is an everyday thing and you can find the rentable ones in the bigger cities.

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_yvmLbngb448/S8VDlZAnKPI/AAAAAAAAATU/U8i4p4vwwDs/s1600/IMG_1476.JPG - for those not sure what I'm talking about

Photo Booths - Might be something more for Squidport, but could also be something for parks or those who've created unique attractions like race tracks or something. I've seen them with adverts on the outside, kind of like a multi-task billboard kind of thing.

Recycle Bins - I know we have garbage bins/cans, but these are a bit more specific and thereby could be treated differently, in that they award consumer points for "going green" XD Could have some for glass, paper, etc, with different colorings even.

Other signs besides Stop - Dead End, Danger, Monorail X-ing, actual street signs, whatever

    Traffic Lights and/or Crosswalks

As for vendor machine ideas - going by those I've seen actually in use over here, bread, umbrellas, sandwiches, strawberries (or any farmed crops, like those Cletus can grow), etc

That's all I could come up with for now. XD

Consumerism is the one that stops me from my 5 star rating. I like the idea with the shopping carts, I think that one is really good.

Other than that I could think of some sort of fair you could build by laying pavement. Shops to put there are little stands/booths like the lemonade stand or three eyed sushi for SP. You could make a stand for household goods (with a Marge task?), left hand supplies for Ned and maybe even a stand for Wiggum making super hot Chili (Taks for Homer with 48h haluzinating - you would need to search for him afterwards). That would allow you to "adjust" your purchases (Gluttony or Consumerism) based on what you need to crank up your desired ranking.

Billboards. Perhaps something less fancy and elaborate than the premium billboards that are or have been available. I wouldn't care much what it said, so long as I could buy it with in-game cash, and maybe tuck a few behind a building.
    Yes, definitely billboards.

I finally bit the bullet and built a bunch of quick-e-marts to get my consumerism to 5 stars, and i built about 8 more brown houses to get my indolence to 5 stars. I should have done that a long time just to take advantage of the bonus sooner, but just looked ugly. I'm finally buying more land now that i've bought everything else, and i'm trying to fit the QEM's naturally as possible, and i'm gonna slowly replace the brown houses with a variety of other colored houses a few at a time, and get them situated as naturally looking as possible. but yes....we need some more decorations that boost a few of these, like indolence and consumerism.

I really like this idea! It would add a lot to the game, and for those who actually design their towns, it would be a god send. I'd go nuts with decorations like the ones mentioned by several people here. Honestly I can't think of anything else that could be added as a decoration and increase consumerism, but I do think they need to add some clothing stores lol. I am pretty sure there isn't a single store like that in the game...or not that I can remember anyways.

Seriously with all the good suggestions many forum members are making lately EA better have some good updates coming up. Just with our suggestions they have enough material for at 2 years of content. So EA, get on it. :D

I have a horrible cluster of KEMs in the corner of my town. Would really like to get rid of them. I love all the suggestions so far. How about an outdoor market with fruit and veg stalls, clothing, etc? I don't know if this has ever appeared in the show, though, so maybe wouldn't be able to be in the game. An ATM would be good, too.

    Agreed with the OP 100%

I am pretty much a freemium player, so i don't buy donuts and premium items for me are rare (although i do have one or two premium items bought with saved donuts, added here and there since i started playing the game a year ago)

Consumerism and Obedience are the two sticking points that are stopping me getting a out and out 5 star rating, doesn't matter what i add they won't budge

And can we please see the end of righteousness?

Fed up with it being 5 stars, then randomly going to one, then after two days of visiting friends trying to get the rating back up to 5 stars. It's annoying. I don't want to have multiple training walls (although i can see whay people do that as it's quicker than visiting friends and sorting out criminlas etc)

My apologies to the OP, i did not mean to hijack their thread with my part about righteousness - i just think it's pointless and should be replaced with something else :)

I was actually thinking the same. People are having great ideas posted here recently that even shouldnt be to hard to realize in the game. The OP of an idea should get a pay back from EA for every idea that was realized and posted on the forum. 8)

I only have 1 KEM that can be seen and all the rest are hidden.

I had my extra KEMs hidden and for some reason they got on my nerves more than when they were in plain view.

Vending machines would be great. The cigarette machines must have come out before the game was on kindle, because I never saw them. Do they increase consumerism?

I've tried to hide kem's, but haven't found it easy. I'm hiding a few houses and holiday trees and a gulp n blow, but can't find a good place to hide a kem, certainly couldn't hide enough to make a difference.

There is one clothing store, Costington's has mannequins in the windows. That was another limited time thing, though.

Dave, have you bought a bunch of stop signs or hail ants signs? Because that should increase your obedience. They're very easy to hide. I suppose a few Lady Justice statues would also help, but they're larger.

Cars, by all rights, should boost indolence. But no, they're vanity items like almost everything else. Oh well.

I have a few of those in my inventory, both stop signs and hail ant signs. Did have them out at one point, but they ruined the look of my town where i had them and never really used them after that. Might just bring them back out somewhere now, thanks. I'm a Premium player now so will be looking for buildings (mainly) that increae those two ratings (consumerism and obedience)

Actually, I'd look at cars as increasing consumerism. That is, you buy things at stores, and most people get to the store with a car. I think of staying home and lounging about, watching television or paying video games (ahem) as indolence. (On the other hand, I could see that it might be seen as lazy (aka indolent) to drive somewhere when you could walk instead ...)

Though if there was, say, a car dealership, buying a car would certainly count as consumerism... :) )

That was sort of my thought. I'd be thrilled if they boosted consumerism, though.
Really, it would be kinda nice if they boosted anything but vanity. I probably have twice as many vanity points as I need by now, just from normal decorating. (Don't even have any aspirationals.)

I too have this problem---According to the Wiki, I have every building (even multiples of some) that affect Consumerism except for 2 that were even related that I missed (House of Evil and the Mapple Store).

Consumerism is the only rating that I can't reach 5 stars. am I supposed to Kwik E Mart farm?

yer unfortunately.. build a few and see how many it takes to get you to 5.. it took 8 for me and after the Christmas event i could get rid of a few..
