EA, can you make an Area Select Tool like this? (EA: yes)

Prev1345678
Either this or some kind of group/up group tool would be useful. I never reorganize, just expand slowly but might do more if I had something like that.
All my designs look unfinished because i can't place as many plants, streetlights, and fences as i would like. PLEASE REMOVE THE LIMIT, EA!

I'm re-designing right now and it's so stressful, it'll be the last time I do it under the current system.

Yes, please. There are things I'll never move because they're too elaborate, and trying to put it back just so is too exhausting. And I've seen towns that are far more elaborate than mine! Can't imagine rearranging that stuff.

if you could select and store a whole are at once and somehow i made a mistake and stored my whole town i think i would have to buy a new phone as i can see this one flying through the air and smashing against the wall.

Kudos!!!! Easier to move things around, especially when you have tiny bushs you want moved and it selects something else. Also easier to redesign a town.

i'm one of those people who's constantly reorg'ing the town to place new buildings in appropriate locations.

but that often means tearing down piece-by-piece, some building that i spent hours configuring with decorations, plants, etc.

I'd like to see an Area Select Tool that allows us to MOVE or STORE multiple items at once. Here's how it could work:

    - Once activated, the user sets a LEFT BRACKET, then a RIGHT BRACKET on the grid.
    - The user then chooses SHIFT LEFT, RIGHT, UP, or DOWN; or STORE ALL.

I've illustrated the RED AREA SELECT BRACKETS in this screenshot. (ignore the "ghost tree" i selected to make the grid appear)

In this pic, the school, bench, swing set, see-saws, monkey bars, Willie's shack, and "ghost tree" would be included. The tree in the foreground at bottom right would not. (you may have to right scroll this image to see the right bracket)

this tool would function based on the existing grid coordinates of course. We set the perimeter coords with the brackets. Shift right = all included X axis values increase by 1; Shift left = -1; Shift up = all Y axis values +1, etc.

hmm, a poll button. ok, who'd like this?

    YES!!

I've been asking for this exact thing for well over a year! It'd make reorganizing towns far simpler and less time-consuming.

I only fear the possibility of server issues (since EA seems to have an abundance of those with this game).

I would love it. I have needed a redesign since before Xmas and haven't started because I have to move tons of shrubs only to configure them the same way somewhere else.

That would be a great idea, it would be very useful when I want to switch buildings from one place to another, like with what happened with Madame Chao's with me.

When I really love a section of my town but want to move it to a more convenient spot, I take screenshots and print them out to use as a visual guide. Do you have any idea how cool I look doing this on the train?

So yeah, I'm all in on a this-will-only-take-five-seconds area select tool.

    Yes yes yes yes!!

I get so frusterated when I am trying to move around fences or bushes and it takes 20 taps to highlight the one Im trying to move!!!

Now that we have a character finder, this is the #1 most needed tool. When I did my complete redesign last summer it took a whole afternoon just to store my town before I could start the actual designing! That's what's keeping me from doing another redesign now, even though I really need one. I've just been squeezing in the new buildings wherever...

Oh yes this would be extremely helpful. But EA has a hard enough time with all the bugs and glitches(ewww i said glitches) that I'm willing to bet it would crash the game non stop

That would be very useful and it would also be funny when people want to move buildings with decorations and accidentally store everything. Can't wait for that!

Since this is the second comment about this sort of situation, it seems like the solution would be to make the multi-select tool for moving only, and not have a storage option.

Although I have to point out, it always confirms whether I want to place something in storage, so I don't understand how this would be a huge issue.

Definitely would be useful. Here's my idea on how to do it.
There have been other threads on this. My take on it would not be multi select in a "hold control-shift-click" fashion. That would be tedious, and if you messed up you'd have to start over. It would be more of a "link items together function." (not my idea, somebody else posted something about it) They would be semi-permanantly tied together and move together. With an option to unlink them. There are a few reasons I think this wouldn't be terribly difficult to implement.

To start with, the selection process would be akin to the desk top selecting function in old windows. You click and drag, forming a yellow box, let go and anything in that box is now selected. Remember that? In TSTO we already have a similar process to lay areas of pavement, road, etc. Just instead of pavement it would be a laying a "selection." (also think zoning in Sim City). Any objects within the selection could then have an option to be linked, stored, etc.

The linked objects would then move together. This is definitely easy to do, in fact it is already programmed into the game. If you've ever noticed some character tasks occur at a specific location. example, if you send Luigi to toss pizza, he first goes and stands in front of Luigi's. Next, try to move the building. You'll notice Luigi moves with it.

    Anyway, that's my two cents.
