Is it possible there is an additional charge of tax/vat on top of your purchase?

I'm sure I read that can apply somewhere, also' for bank card/credit card transfers Google charge 3% per transfer. Maybe that's it?

Yeah I'm on apple and I always get 15 dollar iTunes when I make 10 dollar purchases. The total usually is around 11 dollars

Here in the UK, VAT or sales tax has to be included in the final price. I must say on my first visit to the States I was wandering WTH? I thought I was being diddled. Luckily when I voiced my concern to one of the guys I was meeting he filled me in on how each state charges taxes as well as the federal tax. Makes me glad I only have income tax, vat, council tax, road fund tax, utilities tax, fuel duty, stamp duty, airport tax premiums tax, inheritance tax and corporation tax.

I've never paid taxes on a gift card. Taxes are charged on (some) purchases with the gift cards, otherwise you'd be paying taxes twice.

It depends what state you are in. Not all states charge sales tax on "virtual" purchases. I live in NY and of course my state charges sales tax on in app purchases and calls them "software" purchases which are taxable.
