I tried that strategy once, never hit. I've had a lot of luck just picking one dog and always betting on that dog. My dog of choice is Drool Brittania.

I am doing the same strategy... except im picking the lowest odds dog. well see how it goes I guess.

The odds are pretty much as indicated ... 99-to-1 means there's about a 1 percent chance this dog'll win. That does not mean that you are guaranteed to win once out of every 99 bets. It could happen more often, or less often, the odds represent a likely average or median.

Late last year I was on a hot streak ... won the 99 to 1 dog three times in the month of October alone. Haven't won again since.

I always put one hand over my eyes, and tap what ever I tap with the with the other. I have found that I win more like that.

I've had the downs for awhile..never won so I stopped playing until couple days ago and finally won for the first time this morning :-P ! Drool Britannia on a 2-1 so not a windfall,but at least I know it isn't a complete waste of time.

I only bet on 99-1. With the belief that every 100 races I'll win, and basically get my money back in 1 nice lump sum. i.e. prize winnings = $200000,
100 bets x $2000 = $200000

Having said that, i'm currently well passed the 100 bets ATM, and long overdue for a win :?

Yeah, you only have a little under a 2/3 chance of winning a 1/100 chance in 100 plays.

There is a thread out there with the odds.

I recall the 99-1 has a 1.25% chance to win which is slightly better than 99-1 and therefore profitable in the long run but nowhere close to the 1 in 10 that OP was hoping for.

In the end they all pay about the same expected profit in the long run. But if you are short on cash I would recommend the favorite for the least volatility.

99-1 in the real world is 1%. That's what they meant. 99-1 in the game has better odds than a REAL 99-1. 8)
