Doughnut is the British spelling. As a Canadian, I do tend to use some British spellings but not always. I spell it donut. Tim Hortons, the coffee chain in Canada sells DONUTS. :P
just so were clear are we saying the two words the same regardless of spelling or are they pronounced differently like TOEmato TUHmato DOnuts DOEnuts. ive never heard anyone say i want a DOnut but then again ive never left my house
Doughnut is the correct spelling but Donut is cheaper for store signs.
"Donut" is also how it's spelled in-game.
True but it's been so many years since the industry adopted the spelling of DONUT that it has become a common alternate spelling of the tasty treat. I'm not trying to be a Spelling Jerk, just pointing out why the spelling changed.
I know, and if we're referring to the pastry, there are the two different spellings. If, however, we're referring to the game currency, it's spelled "donut."

If you see ones that look like this

Okay I'll remember that

This topic seems particularly appropriate for you baddazoner, given your sig...so...ketchup or catsup?
Also:
If this becomes Southern Krispy Kreme doughnuts v. Yankee Dunkin' Donuts, this could get messy.
