Is anything being done about cheaters/hackers?

Prev13
if it doesn't bother them why does it bother you?

hacking the game would completely ruin it for me. if i suddenly had unlimited donuts and could get anything i want i would completely lose interest in this game.

honestly EA likely doesn't care because it's not that bad where every 2nd player is doing it.. they still make a ton of money off the large majority of players that don't hack..

to be honest i don't care about the hackers either.. it's not like hacking in a first person shooter where it's ruins my experience this doesn't affect me and it doesn't affect EA either really.

So you think it's perfectly fine that people are hacking the game?

Not caring and supporting are two pretty different things...

Apparently you are unaware of sarcasm.

Any way, who cares? Move on with your life, it's a smartphone game.

You'll eventually realize that repetitive sarcasm is not an effective way to argue, and really just makes you sound like a spoiled teenager with nothing important to say to anyone.

Hacking is an issue with The Simpsons Tapped Out, that is apparent. But what MaxxSpider was suggesting--and this is the attitude most people do or at least should have--is that unlike other games, TS:TO isn't a competitive multiplayer game; one person's town has no impact on another's. There are no leaderboards, no competitive matches, nothing that should really get you bent out of shape over the fact that someone else is breaking the rules.

However, I do understand the frustration that comes with having to pay for things that someone else is getting for free. I can tell you right now that EA does care about hackers because Donuts cost money, and hacking the game to obtain premium currency is literally stealing. But also remember that TS:TO is a casual, freemium game, and the vast, vast majority of players are not hacking anything. Just because you've run across a decent amount of them on the web means nothing when you consider how many millions of players have downloaded and played this game legitimately.

If you run across a hacker, and have actual proof, I would suggest PMing a mod with the link and/or evidence. The mod can then take a look and forward the evidence up the food chain to the community manager at EA if it's warranted for possible actioning.

At least on the NHL and Madden forums, that's how we handle cheaters.

I can't see EA doing anything about it, how would they tell? Go through millions of accounts one at a time and see if they tie up with what they have purchased?

Personally i couldn't see the problem with having loads of free donuts, as long as you dont use them to speed up. I think speeding up is what ruins the game. I have a fair amount of donuts that i have aquired over time which is no different really, free or not i was getting everything in the premium list one way or another.

I am not sure that would even work as in apps are processed by appple/google/amazon and Ea proberbly don't get a list. The jokes on the hackers who are only spoiling there own game by tacking away any sence of achivement.

It really wouldn't be that hard to review someone's account history and in-app purchases. Do they have more premium content than what their purchases made would allow?

They could also easily limit their search to those accounts that have hundreds of dollars worth of premium items and then make sure those persons have spent the equivalent amount, taking into consideration Donut giveaways and what have you.

Of course EA gets figures on in-app purchases. It's their game; they're the ones with shareholders here and EA needs to know how TO is doing financially in order to decide if it's worth keeping the game up and running. Not to mention they need this information for all other customer support problems not having to do with hacking ("I purchased X donuts but the game didn't give me them!!") which they most likely get fairly often.

As some wise person on the internet once said, getting mad at someone for being gay because you're straight is like getting mad at someone for eating a donut when you're on a diet.

Their choices have absolutely zero outcome on how your game plays. They are free to do whatever they want. Worry about your own life.

TSTO team doesn't have the resources to deal with hackers. It doesn't even have the resources to deal with severe bugs like the random log in glitch or graphical overlays. Just fixing Squidport took months! There's a bunch of major MMORPGs that have the big dollars to police hacking; but, when it comes down to it, TSTO is a mobile game.

Also, do note not all hackers actually cost EA money, only the ones that would have spent donuts had hacking not been available. (The items are virtual after all and nearly free for EA to produce.) Then there's the issue of how much money those hackers that would have spent money would have spent had hacking not been available.

Given these considerations, dealing with hacking simply hasn't been a high priority for TSTO team. T\

What I do is ask myself "Is it really that important to me that people are hacking?" If the answer is yes, I then ask myself "Is is really, REALLY that important to me that people are hacking?". If I keep coming up with a yes, I add another REALLY until the answer is no and ultimately, that's the correct answer. I do this with a lot of things in life. Try it sometime. Keep adding really to the question and eventually you'll get to the point that it just doesn't matter as much as you first thought.
