Changes to Easter that might have decreased frustration

I think eliminating the decreasing egg totals from visiting neighbors probably have been the only needed change. That would have given everyone a LOT more opportunities.

I don't agree with permanent baskets as people more than one town would have been granted essentially unlimited eggs.

Being able to simply plant eggs (like Whacking Day) would also have been a good fix.

Sorry, I'm not clear on how permanent baskets would have been different from being able to drop eggs with no baskets.

Higher drop rate for baskets would be my preferred solution, anyway.

Less eggs per spin would have been great.

Sure, but not entirely necessary if we could earn sufficient eggs. I'd take four times the earning potential over half the cost any day.

Well yeah, of course it would have been better if it were a completely different event. I was attempting to work primarily with what we actually got.

Egg boxes costing less would have been the one thing that would have probably made it better. 100-200 eggs at most for each box would have substantially increased the number of boxes for everyone and given much more opportunity to hit the fabled "80 guaranteed".

Even with the Faberge Delay, this would have helped, but that too was atrocious. Some people never even got the Faberge Egg. This severely hurt their chances, and maybe it should have just been the reward for finishing the quest line instead of a tiny chance or something to purchase.

    Touche

I added that last moment before I posted and didn't really think it through.

For me Halloween 2013 was an ideal event, you were awarded for dedication and frequent game visits. Unlike Easter which was based on luck or a minimum of 80 or so spins (for Sharry I think). So if they used Halloween 2013 as a template for all events I would be happy.

I completely agree with all those changes! I'm a daily player and upon coming to the forum on the first day of the event and getting all the details...it pretty much set the tone of the event. " you will not get everything unless you spend lots of donuts". I've never felt that way playing this game, much less on the first day. I resigned to hopefully getting the buildings and anything else after that would be great, but seeing the eggs dwindle and only 5 characters that earn eggs made things, plus the fact of very little opportunity for baskets made things even bleaker. I understand not everything is guaranteed, but if you look back to previous events they at least made it possible for most everyone to get the items being offered. Heck even the idea of community prizes was nice it kept you playing, especially for those gold box prizes that I know not everyone got. I think about 1/4 of my friends got those cool characters. So any opportunity to get more eggs would have been at least hope to get them.

I think neuroheart has done a great job in coming up with an idea for improving the now passed Easter event, and i will definatley say for one thing, to take the time to write that out with the intention of using only what was available in the event itself is admirable, and much better that what EA came up with :)

I think the odds should increase depending on how much you play the game. For instance, if you play everyday and tap all your neighbors, then you would have a better chance than someone else who plays less. Just seems like it would make it worth it for those everyday players.

There are a lot of good suggestions for improving this event here. I played every single day, had a maxed friends list (3-4 I couldn't use each night, but whatever), and made use of all the egg-related jobs as frequently as possible, including carrots. Here are my finals "spoils"in order of what I consider to be most wanted-

    - Hugs Bunny
    - Egg Council Guy
    - Bunny 24601
    - Banana Dictatorship
    - Johnny Fiestas
    - Kang Topiary
    - Kodos Topiary
    - 6 Easter Trees
    - 6 Egg decorations
    - 1 Easter gate
    - 67 Easter fences (pastel included)
    - numerous egg switches (ie. spent 500 blue on a box for 250 pink in return; 500 pink for 300 yellow, etc)

Even after converting all of my blue eggs for pink eggs (the more rare for me) halfway through the event, I failed to get the Blocko store or the two lizards. I also failed to get Father Sean and Sherri Bobbins from the yellow. For someone who put as much time into this event as I have (and I still haven't updated), I really think you should be allowed the ability to get all of the items. It's a little bit frustrating. I sincerely hope that someone from EA reads this and acts accordingly, because if the events trend this way, I won't be playing anymore. Just too much time for too little in return.

I would have been happy if the baskets just kept dropping. Once I stopped getting baskets the event got boring.

Boxes cost 500 eggs, so a prize of 100 or 300 gold eggs was nearly always a little frustrating. A less frustrating option might have been 250 gold from common, 500 from uncommon.

I would have really liked this.

And along those lines ... maybe 250 eggs for a "spin" for pink and blue boxes.

    Good job!

I like a little positive criticism!

I would have added a fourth box. A premium box. This one you could have opened it with donuts only and it would have only the buildings and the characters inside. That way you pay, but you are sure to get something valuable in return!

    What a great post, neuroheart!

Halloween was a blast (Mmmmmm, donuts) and Christmas was fun despite the random elements because it was doable if you really worked at it - and I'm perfectly happy to work my fanny off if I know I can complete an event. But say I want to spend my money rather than my time, I'm also happy to simply purchase items outright with donuts. This is a straightforward transaction. Silly, yes. But still straightforward.

However, what makes me extremely unhappy is rigging an event so that the only way to complete it is to continually spend money on the possibility that you might get an item you need/want, until you do.

For instance, let's say you have all items but one. How many unwanted fences, redundant ponds, and cycles of diminishing eggs, do you have to buy in order to get that one, last item in order to complete the event? This is just ... wrong. People who are stupid enough to spend money on a Buddha Box are just that. But making the completion of an event dependent on the exact same kind of transaction? It is behavior that falls somewhere between disingenuousness and outright contempt.

This has completely changed my opinion on whether to spend money on TSTO or not.

Edit: added, "the completion of", for obvious reasons.
