Disappearing neighbors?

I just realized that two of my neighbors disappeared with this update. They were here yesterday, but gone today. Since I was keeping track of neighbor visits off & on during the Stonecutter event, I know exactly which ones disappeared.

I'm sorry to have lost them since they were both regular visitors. However, since I visit all my neighbors daily (event or not) I find it difficult to believe they deleted me on purpose. I wasn't a lodge tapper, my town is orderly and I always have tappable buildings.

Did anyone else lose neighbors unexpectedly?

Perhaps they deleted you? Either way, happy tapping!

Of course that's a possibility, but as I mentioned, since I visit daily and always have tappable buildings, I don't know why I'd be deleted before another neighbor who may not be performing as well.

    Four Reasons I delete Neighbors:

    1) They stop visiting me.

    2) I find they have a house farm.

    3) I find they're cramming buildings together with no streets and not bothering to put any efforts into designing a Springfield.

    4) I find they're just placing building out on bare grass and not bothering to put any efforts into designing a Springfield.

I do believe that everybody has a right to play as they choose, I just want to play with these type of players myself, as is my right.

Well...none of these describe me or my town, which is why I am having a difficult time accepting it's not a mistake. I visit daily, I do not house farm and I have orderly streets with buildings arranged logically. I deleted a few neighbors who 1) weren't playing regularly (I usually give a 3-day grace period if the neighbor has been reliable in the past), 2) weren't clearing their handshakes/pyramids or 3) weren't visiting me (just for this last event). I can overlook messy towns or house farms if they visit daily, as long as their farm doesn't cause my game to crash.

If I have an entirely active friends list and someone asks to add me who I know, I will delete a random person to add a real friend.

You are not the only one with this problem.
Yesterday a friend called me to ask if I had deleted him (which I had not).
I was gone from his neighbourhood though he was still on my friend list and I was still able to visit his town.

He sent me a new friend request, but to no avail.
The solution was that I deleted him from my friend list and re-added him.

We were lucky that he is a rl friend. I don't know what we could have done otherwise.

I keep my fingers crossed that you'll find a way to re-add your missing neighbours.

Nah, don't worry about it. Maybe all their neighbors were good like you were.

But more likely, in my opinion, they just cut way way down. Maybe they just needed to take a massive breather after that Stonecutters event, and didn't want to visit people, but didn't want to take up a space on your friends list. Maybe dropping you was their way of letting you know they're not up to being ideal neighbors and they assume you want neighbors who visit regularly.

Thank you for your reply and encouraging words! This also happened to me a few weeks ago (the neighbor was on my list, but I wasn't on his) and I only discovered the problem when I saw his post on the forum commenting that he had been visited by two players (he used our screen names) that were not on his list. We had to resolve the problem just as you described. He couldn't add me, and I had to delete him and re-add him.

@peppers2ndmo: If you think it was a mistake send them an invite. If they cancel, you'll have your answer.

People have all types of reasons for unfriending someone. Don't take it personally. You are a great neighbor!

    Cheers!

What annette said -- after events, many people like to take a breather and cut down on their neighbors list. Unless it's a longtime neighbor or someone whom you know, I wouldn't take it personally. And I will second that you are a terrific neighbor. 8)

Have you counted your neighbors? I experienced a glitch where a neighbors name disappeared and a completely new name appeared. When I looked at my friends list in Origin on my PC, the old name was still there. Glitch eventually sorted itself out. I had one who changed to a different user name. New name showed up in the game and when I checked Origin directly.

Could be that you held a subconscious grudge against those neighbors. This grudge led you to sleep delete them.

Agreed! And perhaps they are taking a break or quitting - and then you don't have to make the decision after days/ weeks of wondering if they are still around.

    Mystery solved?!

I just tried to add a new neighbor, having finally accepted the fact that I've lost my two neighbors. I was surprised to get the message saying I couldn't add anyone because my friend list was full.

I pulled up my neighbor list and scrolled down to the bottom and found my two missing neighbors in the section that reads "Origin friends not in game", along with my friend who plays Scrabble with me, but not TSTO. Perhaps these folks are taking a break as some have mentioned, and by not accepting the required update appear to be out of the game.

This also solves the mystery about 100 neighbors, as I always thought Other Springfield counted in that total. It appears Origin allows 100 friends in total, not per game.

PS: if any of my neighbors would like to play Scrabble, start a game and send me an invite!

This is exactly what happened to us in the situation I've described above.
I was gone from my friend's neighbourhood and appeared in his origin list as not playing the game.
So the message "not in game" does not mean that your neighbours quit playing. It might just be this new glitch.
Wait and see if they still visit you.

The issue resolved itself when I deleted and re-added him.

    Good luck!
