I agree with you Annette, something may still be fishy. I did the fix last night when Davo posted it, and thought everything was fine. Then, when I logged in this AM, I only had handshakes from one neighbor. I guess it's possible that only one person came by in that time, but it would be the first time since it started playing that I only got one visit overnight. Many of my neighbors are in different time zones, so they often come through when I'm sleeping. :?:

In typical between-event periods for the past nine months, when I signed in for morning cleanup, i had dozens of handshakes. All of the top (mountain) third, from Burns mansion to the prison was covered with handshakes, the center of town was covered, and about half of Squidport. There were also at LEAST six taps in the forest area, and someone always nailed my drive in theater.
That was between events.
This morning, I had ZERO.
I understand people are having LOTS of crashes. I understand people are resting after Stonecutters. But EVERYBODY? I think not.

Don't get me wrong; I very much appreciate OP's share of info.
But am I alone in finding the EA official response absolutely laughable. A primary and original function of the game is suddenly 'broken' and the 'advice' is use your secondary device and jump through several hoops to be able to play the game as you used to before we broke it with yet another not-properly-tested update.
It is quite amazing what we put up with from EA with this game. I'm not a big donut-buyer, but have bought enough equivalent to a couple of console games - lord knows what the 'completionist' folks who must have spent the equivalent of 5 or more full-price console games think.
I love this game, and as a programmer myself can understand some of the issues the dev team face, especially when the vocal fans are always clamouring for 'more content' or 'more land'. Writing games for mobile devices is a minefield because you have so many different bits of hardware to consider. Nevertheless it is inexcusable to keep introducing game-breaking bugs every other update. This effects all TSTO players, but for those who have paid RL cash it is outrageous.
If anything, I would rather forego another update in lieu of establishing a stable base game.
Back to OP point: can you imagine the carnage and bad publicity if say "Sims 4" when it comes out this fall/autumn is riddled with bugs? That won't happen. Quality control. I would like, actually expect, the same level of attentiveness to this game too <please>?
This is just laughable. That's the same "advice" given to me about the constant Android crashing. Surprise, it didn't work for that either.
EA customer service lacks basic reading comprehension. I wrote a detailed bug report including all information I could think of (including that I had uninstalled/reinstalled a number of times) and the first thing they tell me is to uninstall/reinstall.
I finally get escalated to tier 2 support and the first thing they tell me to do... you got it. Uninstall/reinstall.
So now I'll bite my fingers and reply politely to the tier 2 person. But if I had done my job like they are, I would have been fired.
Just came onto the forum, so maybe you're still writing a PM ... Did you send it to my annettemarc account?
Also, I haven't seen your taps, nor a notification of your visit.
I have received a notification that michellede visited, but no handshakes visible. That's it so far. Not even any graffiti on my Town Hall, which almost always gets tapped first.
Let me go see if your PM came in yet. :?:

Both sides of the 'pond'; "customer service" involves SVT or similar, reading stuff off a script on his/her screen. Their brains get frazzled if you say or write something not on their script. grr
OK i have handshakes from about 20 of 95 after a 12 hr period since logging into my friend's town from my device. I have not logged into my own from another device yet.
So idk what to make of that, because i didn't completely do what EA said.
Neglecterino, i got yours.
I'm about to do my visits, so my neighbors stay tuned.
All my designs look unfinished because i can't place as many plants, streetlights, and fences as i would like. PLEASE REMOVE THE LIMIT, EA!
This response from EA was the same response that I got when I contacted them about different problems sometime back. It would seem to be a standard response to those who have already tried force close, restart, and reinstall without success.
My suspicion is that the problem of handshakes is variable. People could quite easily go from getting no handshakes to getting some handshakes without the problem being fixed.
Maybe they forgot to switch over from seeing eye pyramids to handshakes. They are there but maybe we just can't see the handshakes. Flip the switch EA.......Lol
OK no handshakes in 4 hours leads me to believe that my log out log in as someone else trick only retrieved the handshakes back logged on the server.
Their server is not pushing the handshakes. This is definitely their side's issue.
Crashing has decreased but I'm still getting the first boot fail to connect issue.
This leads me to believe that their primary communication path is down, and when we fail over to the secondary, it's not connecting to the piece that handles the handshakes being synced.
They run us through procedure because that's their job. We must wait and continue to report until they resolve.
