I can go a day or two and get none. But then I can get 1 to 4 or maybe 5 in one day. They are free ones based on odds who cares. So live with it and go on with your life and be happy. But then this has been said many times before. Sorry just had to put in my 2 cents.
I got 1 a day for a while, lately getting almost none - maybe 1 a week at best.
Might have spotted a pattern to it, but that could just be luck playing tricks......
What I've noticed is that when I visit all 100 friends in one sitting, I generally get 1 donut. If I take more than one sitting to visit them all I get nothing. Lately time has not been available and I've been visiting in 2-3 batches per day....and getting no donuts at all.

I've been splitting my visits up into batches because of crashes since the stonecutter update and haven't been getting donuts. Saw your post and thought I'd give it a go doing a whole list visit, bingo got a donut!
Fingers crossed it continues! Will just have to put up with the crashing!

I probably get 1 or 2 per week, but since the stonecutter event I rarely get to visit all of my neighbors every day due to constant crashing. Like Neo, I'm just happy to take any freebies! And EA just gave me 300 donuts for free to make up for my game issues, so I'm extra happy!
I have never gotten as many donuts as people on the forum report getting. Makes me wonder if the lucky report and the rest of us just wish we won more donuts. I run 2 accounts and I'm lucky to get one every couple days.

How many friends do you have? Do you visit them every day? Are you maxed on FP? Do you write down how many donuts you have before and after visiting friends and subtract? Do you let the $$, XP, FP, etc stop moving before pressing the arrow button to go to the next town?
Bunny on addicts says that on one of her devices she never sees the donuts, but knows she gets them by doing the subtraction above.

I do have a 100 neighbors, well 190 if you count the freemium. I visit during events, friend point times and when the mood strikes.
I am maxed on FP.
What is this "writing" you talk of and how does it relate to the game, so no.

One of the events, I don't remember which one, didn't count the special things unless you tapped them or waited for them to be picked up, so I harvested each and everyone one of my emblems. That is the time I am using for reference. I visited each and every neighbor every day, well may have missed 2 days because of time creep. During this time I once got 3 donuts on one day, some times I would get one and mostly I didn't get any. I did get one I didn't see arrive and I am not counting FP collection time. During this time I was tapping around 500 times per day, so I figure the odds of a donut are close to 1 in 1000, but this anecdotal evidence.

My current stats have the probability at 4/1000; during Stonecutters it was 8/1000.
I got two this morning (in 3 friends) but it does seem to be fairly random. I had one earlier this week and I average 1-2 per week. I have about 40 friends and usually manage to work my way through all of them in a day so that works out about 800 taps per week. If anything I may be slightly ahead of average but I'm not complaining.
I got 3 donuts on Friday, I have nearly 100 friends, and had usually averaged 1-2 per day, when I visit all my friends. Usually I get the donut or two near the end of my visits. But on Friday, I got all 3 at the beginning of my rounds, within the first 15 visits. I was really excited and thought I may get a record amount. But that was it. Still I was pleased, 3 was the most I have ever received. Then on Saturday, I did all my friend visits and around the 65th visit I got a donut, and then by the end of my visits I had 3 more donuts, so 4 total on Saturday. Again, this was the most I had ever received, and I was very pleased. Then today, I did visit all my friends, but I never received any donuts. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
Also just wanted to add that I usually return to my town every time I receive a donut. I just want to make sure they tally and count towards my donut amount. I have had a few times when my game crashed, and my donut count did not increase. However, it typically did later that day after a few hard resets. I have only had one instance when my donut count did not increase as expected, and I had to call customer service to get it corrected. I just like to synchronize my game several times when possible. During the Stonecutter event this really helped my neighbors that were trying to tap my temple for the 5 emblems.
Got 5 yesterday from visiting friends. That's a record for me. Today another 3. Prior to the massive donuts drop I went 4 days without any donut drops. Sigh

Wow, that is pretty amazing. I find that interesting. I have never received a donut from Other Springfield, or from the first town I visit either. I was surprised the other day when I got donuts during my first 10 visits, that had never happened for me before.

I'm assuming it's just luck and it won't last too much longer. But it is nice (for the time being) to start off all my visits with a donut. And thank you for the warm welcome.
I got 3 since I maxed out my FP on Friday 1 on the neighbor run I did on Saturday, and 2 this morning - both within 4 towns of each other but all the way down my list. So, very random, but it definitely still happens.

But I could imagine if you just started playing, it would be a long time before you actually got a donut.
