  Generally, the only time I save my nerds is the last few hours before bedtime, so I can attack a little more while everyone's sleeping. But nerds generate so quickly there's no need to save them otherwise.

  Yes!! Got an extra 60 nerds! And i had 40 nerds waiting to set free so started raiding with 100 nerds. Full charge!!

  I play on two devices. I got extra troops on both devices. 65 the first time and 70 the second time, because I had upgraded one of the castles.
  
  Edit: Phone just glitched so I reentered and got another 70 nerds.

  confirmed! I was a 0 nerds and when I came back from visiting friends, i got a full complement (70) of nerds.
  
  It seems as if those reinforcements give the player the max amounts of nerds - so its beneficial to be at 0 whenever possible on saturdays.
