The system that was put in place this past Christmas and carried till Easter was obviously EAs way of trying to con people into paying. They know that a lot of players we're die hard completionists and they took advantage of that. They clearly payed dearly because a ton of players quit the game and they fell out of the top 10 in the App Store. That's very bad for business especially for EA.
Android or iPhone app store? For Google Play, TSTO was not even consistently top 10 grossing before Christmas 2013. It only happened during events for a short period.

I don't think we can say with certainty what caused players to leave. It could be they are unhappy with events or it could be as simple as players are tired of a two year old mobile game that is running low on content.

I always find it amusing that people find it necessary to announce their departures. If you're not happy...go. Frankly, EA isn't going to care. Their current business Model works for them. As both a premium player and a freemium player, I find the arguments listed don't really Hold water. In one town I spend only the donuts I earn through gameplay. Yes, I have less and sometimes it makes me twitchy. But through every event I have always managed to earn everything available. Even during the "event that shall not be named". In my premium town I have everything. I've played since day 1. There is plenty of land. I have a few things in inventory because I choose to have some areas highly decorated. My stonecutters and **** areas Are large by choice. My prison, my racetrack...the list goes on. All of them could be significantly smaller and still look nice. I choose not to have it that way. And yeT I still have some open space.

At the end of the day it's a free game. No one is forcing anyone to spend money. You can play just fine without ever dropping a cent. I'd rather do this than drop the $65 on a video game that I Complete in less than a month.
You're assuming everyone is like in many regards by your statement. The truth is everyone is different, and obviously they can't cater to everyone's needs. With that said they do make some very odd choices that can only be explained by greed. I get companies need to make money, but that doesn't mean trying to take advantage of their players.

This is actually kind of hilarious in its naivete. Someone isn't familiar with how American corporations act. Being a huge, wealthy corporation means taking advantage of people around these parts. Is EA guilty of that? They surely are and they use the freemium model to appeal to people with addictive personalities. The whole model is designed exactly to take advantage of people, which is why I've spent very little money. This should be obvious but it can be hard to see the forest for the trees.

Does stuff cost too much real $$ ? Yes.... Do they have the right to make $$? Yes. Is the way their going about it a little $$ grubbing? Yes

Do you have to pay? No. Period. Yes, you will miss a lot of cool stuff by playing freemium...... We all have to make choices in life.

I do agree- game play has slacked off, and if the plan to make back their $$ is to pillage us for ours.... That sucks. But there is still a chance, things always change. Keeping in mind this by far isnt their only game- EA has gone a little overboard with pricing people out of playing

Edit: also keeping in mind- most of the stuff is returning items from other Halloweens and such so for those of us who didn't or couldn't buy the first time- it's nice to have another chance- but it makes the amount of $$ seem a little more overwhelming. If you had a lot of it, and aren't being offered as much, I'm sure it doesn't seem as bad......
PM me- I DO need Good Neighboreenos currently
