I have gotten a Test Tube, Spooky Walls, a few Donuts and the Alien Plant Shrubs in some Treat Bags though!
We still have the entire event to unlock the Grand Pumpkin though, right? Looking forward to the Spooky Haunted House too.
I so far have only purchased donuts during a Gil deal when I first started playing. Maybe $15 worth? And that has kept me good the past year and a half or so along with the free and bonus donuts given out. Of course there are still some things I want, but I find it more fun when its a true achievement finally buying a building you have saved up for...be it money or donuts. I find it more fun to earn, anyway.

I have found a human test subject and approx. 8 donuts in treat bags, and I crafted a spooky wall because, well, I'm dumb and didn't think about it costing me parts. I was too distracted by the shiny green "craft" button.
I play mostly freemium. I did buy some donuts to get the ray gun so I could have Kodos. Overall, I think I'm doing good. I got Hugo last night and I'm about 1000 probes away from getting the DTD. Which I'm happy about because I was behind for a few days. The Grand Pumpkin will be a little bit of a grind since I'm getting more gummies then chocolate bars or pumpkins to build him.

:roll: I work all day and don't play at all. I have 7600 probes and just picked up Hugo today. I'm about 70% of the way to Grand Pumpkin. I send all my trick or treaters off before bed, pick up the 8 hour kids in the morning and then collect everyone in the evening after work.
I hate when people use work as an excuse. This event is totally doable without being glued to it all day.
I'm doing everything I can, but getting nowhere. I just got the ****. I have all my kids out trick or treating constantly and check in every hour or so to squish the little guys. I'm just having bad luck. No donuts, no missals, nothing really good.
Granted, I had a four day span i couldn't play, that was last weekend.
Since then, I've been playing every 4 hours, even spent all my donuts on the ray gun, yet have made no progress in trimming down my shortage.
I just got the last bag before the donut machine so I'll have exactly one day according to its timer.
This and the FG game are making me very unhappy for Halloween this year.
I'm beginning to consider deleting both games and saving some frustration. It's just not a reasonable balance of fun vs frustration. Frustration is not fun!!!! It's like ok, im poor! I know, you don't have to rub it in my face with every stupid little decoration i cannot afford and can't possibly earn before your dang timer expires!!!

Since I'm averaging 755 probes a day, I'd also be off target if I missed 4 days. Have you considered setting alarms every 4 hours this weekend including night? That would get you more aliens to squish and more treat bags. Perhaps more missiles and a shot at 50 probes. Without donuts, I cannot think of a better idea. Dropped eggs really don't pay many probes, but are better than zero, so add that too.
I got Hugo last night and the DTD this morning. I only have around 130 pumpkins and chocolate bars each, so I'm a long way away from the grand pumpkin.
Without the ray gun, the premium kids and Witch Marge, it's been a slow haul.

I kind of underestimated this event.. Until now I always got all unlockable prizes in previous events. i thought killing all the aliens twice a days would be enough but apparently it is not . I'm at 6170 probes at the moment and have only one day left for the final price.
But I am still okay with my Progress because of the donuts from the UFO. And for the 2nd Part of the Event I will be ready to kill the green monsters every 4 hours! :twisted:

Today I got the DTM in both my towns. For most of the time I had spent no donuts. Yesterday I bought the Ray Gun in my A-Town and SVT in my B-Town. 10 kids in my A-Town, non premium. Until yesterday, 5 kids in my B-Town. I've got Rodd/Todd now in my B-Town.
I got Hugo in my A-Town, but only a little over half way in my B-Town.
Started day one. 90 actions each day in neighbors. Squished aliens every 4 hours 4 times a day. Collected from kids mostly twice a day; maybe three times at three times a day. Averaged 755 probes a day from all sources in my A-town; must have been more in my B-Town. Got 30+ bags saved in each town for phase 2. Got the 30 donuts once shooting a UFO.
Just got the DTD today. The only thing I currently don't have is the Grand Pumpkin. I think I'll be grinding for him until the end because I don't get a lot of chocolate bars or pumpkins from my bags.
I feel like Tapped Out does a good job enabling 100% free players to get event prizes. With a few extra quick log-ins a day, I went from not knowing if I was getting the DTD before the prizes reset to having it, plus Hugo (working on his house still) and an additional treat bag. I do wish that community prizes would come back, but I guess "crafting" them allows more control instead of knowing that the timer on community prizes was just rigged
I'm doing ok. About 30 or so candy corn away from Hugo. So I'm probably getting him tomorrow. I still have another bag opening coming soon as my kids finish their treating but that won't be enough in 1 shot
