Welcome to the freemium game economy, you get what you pay for. Even if you do spend real world money, your experience won't change, so don't buy donuts thinking your connection will improve.

Makes sense, since the work was already done for those animations. No point in have all those characters hiding inside the brown house when they could be doing something outside for the same amount of time.

Nobody on this forum can give you a refund, nor do we work for Apple or EA. If you have a billing issue, contact Apple and / or EA for assistance. As a last resort, you could try doing a chargeback with the bank that issued your credit card.
