I blew off both the 6s tasks and immediately sent lisa and homer into the library and Moe's. Hey, it was midnight. :) Thanks, in about an hour I can fix this...

Same here. Tried all the things mentioned here, even uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Marge was speeding up crops at the time I got 30000 hats. On android, if that matters. Been giving her the 45 second task, hoping it'll jog her when it finishes, to no avail.

Strangely enough, this is the fix I used. After trying all the rebooting, resetting, turning off/on wi-fi, turning airplane mode off/on, I enabled the Hot Spot on my cell phone, changed to its wi-fi, logged right in. Another strange thing.
