You can only use them in between events. You can only use them if there are items in the Shattered Dreams box that you don’t already possess.

Very carefully check what you are typing in as your email. No spaces, no extra ‘.’, no misspellings, no capitalized letters unless they are supposed to be there, no ‘space’ before or after email. Try to login by phone instead of email.

I’ve never had my anonymous towns affected by logging into a registered town. Only thing that kills an anonymous town is deleting the app.

Have you tapped on the Demon Deluge? Once will most likely send the slidee through the tube to the bottom pool. Keep tapping. Something goes wrong and the slidee doesn’t hit the pool. Where he lands depends on where you have placed the ride.
