Description:
I had an Apex Legends account on Steam with over Level 250 and many unlocked characters.
One day, when prompted to sign into EA, I accidentally logged into a different EA account, and my progress immediately reset to Level 1 (now 20). I did not receive any clear warning that linking a different EA account would cause permanent data loss.
Now, my original progress is gone, and EA Support says there is no way to restore it, even if I identify the correct EA account.
This is extremely frustrating because I did not unlink anything manually — the system allowed a new EA account to overwrite my progress with no confirmation or protection.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Have a Steam Apex account with high progress
2. Log into Apex
3. Accidentally sign into a different EA account
4. Steam auto-links to the wrong EA account
5. All progress is lost
Expected Result:
- A clear warning before linking to a new EA account
2. A confirmation screen showing progress will be lost
3. An option to prevent auto-linking or to recover the original EA account
Actual Result:
- Progress instantly reset
2. No way to revert the link
3. No access to the original EA account or progress
Impact:
I lost years of playtime and character unlocks with no chance of recovery.
Please fix this system and protect player data better. Even a simple warning could have prevented this.
