Bug Report – DirectX Error / Game Crash

 

Title of the bug:

Game crashes with DirectX error “GetDeviceRemovedReason” (DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG)

Description of the issue:
During a match, the game freezes and displays a DirectX error message:
“The function DirectX GetDeviceRemovedReason() failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG (The GPU will not respond to more commands).”
Sometimes, the game closes completely without showing any error message. This happens randomly, regardless of the map or game mode.

Full error message (on screen):
The DirectX function “GetDeviceRemovedReason” failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG (“The GPU will not respond to more commands”).
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080
Driver: 551.86
This error is usually caused by the graphics driver; please install the latest version.

System specifications:
CPU: Intel Core i9-285K
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080
Graphics driver: 551.86
RAM: 32 GB DDR5 (2 x 16 GB)
Operating System: Windows 11
Game Version: Battlefield 6 (full release via EA App / Steam)

Steps to reproduce the issue:

Launch a multiplayer match (for example, 64-player Conquest).

Play for a few minutes or more.

The game freezes, then either shows the DirectX error or closes abruptly.

Expected result:
The game should continue running normally without crashing.

Actual result:
The game freezes or crashes with a DirectX error.

Additional information:

All NVIDIA and Windows drivers are fully up to date.

No CPU or GPU overclocking.

Other DirectX 12 games run without any issue.

The issue appears to be specific to Battlefield 6.
