Leave the affected party so you’re then in your own party on your own.
Browse game modes and select the one you intend to play together, Conquest for example.
now back in the lobby you have the option to Start but don’t just yet.
now invite your friends into the party, once joined it may show unavailable again at the top of the screen but it allows you to select Start.
This will start the preselected game mode with your now party :)
