That is because those are the numbers they used in real life during the 2025 F2 season. When the developers add the F2 2026 season they will be updated to whatever number they are currently using.
Still inexcusable, EA has no issues sticking to the number rules in any of their other games, they have them set up where the game automatically just picks another number if their original number is taken but we have to be stuck with this
Other games are governed by other licenses. The FOM is notoriously strict with theirs; they didn't even let us have driver transfers until 2018 despite other games having trades/ transfers since at least the early 2000's
They clearly aren't that strict anymore. If they were they'd never let EA get away with having a non champion race the 1 and having multiple cars with the same number racing each other. They've also never had F2 drivers using their F2 numbers before this DLC, if the FOM truly played a part in this it would've had to be a just now type of change. Crawford specifically ran the 7 in F2 2024 so meaning in base game F1 25 would've been running the 7 (putting both him and doohan out there in the 7 like they're doing now with him and perez in the 11) if the FOM was doing what you're claiming but the game has assigned him the 11 since day 1. We shouldn't be defending mediocrity and laziness, we know for a fact EA and codemasters can do much batter than this.
