VR not working (AMD 9070XT)

I also askes AMD about this issue:

On my GPU 9070XT i still have a VR issue. Tried everything with new and the latest 25.10.2 driver but no luck.

So i'm back on the AMD 25.4.1 release (amd-software-adrenalin-edition-25.4.1-win10-win11-apr22-rdna).

INGAME: Tried everything, but i still get a strange grey image in VR and only the HUD ingame is showing correctl(with F1 25).

I saw posts online with positive results. Is there anything you can do? Or do you have any tips/tricks?

Note: this only occurs in F1 25, all other games DO work

Heve the same issue only with F1 25, older versions work fine. Probably one of the problems is Javelin anti-cheat that crashes randomly when it checks if you have any cheat on.

I read that one of the fixing action could be undervolting of -10mV and a -50Mhz cut to the max clock. I didn't try this solution because now I'm going to buy Resident Evil Requiem and I prefer to get the latest driver (26.2.2) optimized for this game. But it is ridicolous that the only solution is to rollback to 25.4.1 that leaks a lot of optimizations. I wrote a bug report to Steam, probably they are more quick to find a solution than AMD.

  • Responding to this to hopefully get the attention of someone at EA, as I am having the same issue as listed above.

I play the game using a PSVR2 with the official PSVR2 adapter, attached through displayport 1.4, and  running it through Steam VR on Windows 11. Graphics card 9070 XT.

The game loads fine for menus, but as soon as I start a race/session/etc. (basically anything in a car) it gives a completely distorted and unplayable view.

As others have said, the game looks fine on my monitor while the VR view is completely out of whack.

Downgrading to driver 25.4.1 works for me, so at least I'm able to play the game, but not everyone is able to do that and it seems ridiculous to use an almost year old driver to play a game, not to mention any performance improvements we all may be missing out on.

I've also issued a bug report to AMD, but haven't heard anything back from them.

  • This issue isn't fixed with the latest F1 25 version, nor with the latest AMD Adrenaline driver (26.1.1)... I did some more testing and found that the game will give an in-car image in VR if you start any other VR application in the same SteamVR session, but the refresh rate is way off (making me instantly sick). The lens/eye positions are off too, so it is absolutely not playable, but I was surprised to see anything (instead of black screen) when switching to the in-car view anyway.

Assuming more people still have the same issue, how can we get it under the attention of the right people so it can hopefully be fixed at some point?

  • I have the exact same issue with my AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT and HP Reverb G2, other specs:

    • Windows 11 24H2
    • Tries drivers 25.9.2, 25.10.2, 25.11.1
    • Running SteamVR with Oasis driver (because of Win11 not supporting Mixed Reality anymore)
    • Ryzen 7 5800x3d, B450M motherbord, 32GB RAM
    • Other games work fine

For me the HP Reverb G2 screen stays black when I switch to the car view (the intros before render perfectly fine in VR), but only the HUD elements show: I can see the (UI) buttons and the red lights (that go out before you get control), but the rest of the screen stays black. The PC screen (mirroring the VR screen) does show correctly, making this feel like a very weird bug. I just upgraded from a RX6800XT, so I'm very disappointed this upgrade means I cannot play this game anymore...

Reverting to any driver before 2.9.2 is not an option for me because of the Oasis driver for SteamVR, or else I'll have to reinstall Win11 and stick with 23H2 for a while (again), as that does have Mixed Reality support. That's absolutely not my preference though. I'm curious if anyone has a fix or workaround, or we simply have to wait for EA or AMD to fix this (which may never happen).

I also noticed people report a similar thing for F1 24 with the 9070 XT: https://forums.ea.com/discussions/f1-24-technical-issues-en/vr-view-fully-bugged-out/12072138

And someone also reported this on the AMD forum (also for the 9070 XT): https://pcforum.amd.com/s/question/0D5Pd000010yJNbKAM/f1-25-still-getting-black-screen-vr-9070xt

  • I've got the exact same issue with the 9070xt new drivers don't work....and now we've found out there is no F1 26 but a dlc for  F1 25

soooooooooooo? what we gonna do for 2 years?.......not play this game.

  • I have this since AUGUST, i haven't been able to play since then.
