UPDATE - Not sure what triggered this, but just gone on companion and he is active again, the timer has reset to what it was when he was marked inactive.
Did you complete the other evos you had on the list by any chance?
I'm wondering if this might fix
I did finish all other evos, but on console when I was about to go off he was my only evo and was still showing as inactive, no not really sure
