Manager Career Contract renewal

Whenever I renew the contract for a player specifically who are between 1 and 2 year mark left on contract term, the offer either does not add extension to the term regardless of the amount offered, and when I applied a one year extension to a play who had 1 year left, the extended term did not add - only after 11months were left did it apply the term extension when I renewed it then rather.
