Unable to subs players after editing a national team

Same problem (XBOX Series X), with a team with a modified roster, I am unable to edit team sheets, adjust my starting XI, or make substitutions during a game. Affects Kickoff, Tournaments, and Manager Career modes.

Did not have this issue when we first downloaded the game, but it popped up after an update. Anecdotally, my kid says this also happened "sometimes" with FC 25, but I cannot verify this.
