Just finished my third year in the league and had planned on leaving San Jose, but the sim went right through the entire summer and I was never given an option to sign with anyone else. In NHL 24, I remember specifically having options (though non-negotiable) they were still options. Is this supposed to happen or is it yet another bug in Be a Pro? I am an RFA as a 20 year old so it would make sense that I’m hard stuck on San Jose, but just wanted to ask.

Be A Pro: No contract Options

You should have still been given that option. I'll pass this on to the team for review. Thank you.

I’m having the same issue on Xbox. I have a save just before the resign phase and it automatically signs me back to San Jose during the resign phase each time I load it.

This is also happening to me. Skips right past free agency and just auto signs me. Happened after my first three year term and again after that contract expired.

Hi there. We still don't have a fix for this, but there is a workaround. Don't use the 'Sim To Next Big Event' option in the menu. That should avoid the automatic signing of a new contract.

I'm not using that. I've tried straight simming, but also simming day by day on the calendar.
I don't even think 'sim to next big event' is an option when contract options would be coming up- usually it's after the playoffs and your options are 'sim to next season', 'sim to next big event', and to sim on the calendar, and in the calendar section, you have 'advance day'. Using the 'advance day'- simming one day at a time- the contract auto-renews/auto-signs with the current team on the first day of the re-sign phase, with no input from me. I also tried doing it day by day on the calendar itself, and the same thing happened- contract auto-renewed/auto-signed on the first day of the re-sign phase. I even tried the 'sim to next big event' and 'sim to next season' options, too, just to ensure I covered everything and gave every option a shot. What's the next step to figure this out, from here? Is there a way to, I don't know, access my save file on xbox and send it to you so you guys can see what's going on?
edit: I just want to point out that I only play NHL 25 for be a pro. This kinda annihilates my reason to even play the game- the whole point around the be a pro game mode is that you have agency and choice in what your player does/becomes. Not being able to choose my contract, where I go, removes that.

We wouldn't be able to do anything with your save file, unfortunately. I'm still looking into this and will let you know when I have an update.

Hey Aljo, I noticed something going back through some saves that might help your team reproduce and potentially fix this bug- in every single case, on multiple players, right before the resign period (like on the day the auto sign happens that I spoke about above) a conversation with the coach pops up when you've won the Conn Smythe. On a new playthrough I simmed all the way to the contract period without winning the Stanley cup and Conn Smythe that year, and every time I got the contract signing options. It might be coincidence because I didn't rigorously test this, but it seems like there might be a connection to look at there. Hope that helps!
