Im on this mission but when i choose an object to drop it wont let me place it down. it disappears completely. HELP

Have you tried restarting the game? when it soft locked for me I restarted the game and it reverted me back a step to where you're still on the way to the challenge and then it worked without issue.
this is what i had to do... 3 times lol
dang I guess I've been super lucky with soft locks lol
