While I didn't notice this in the patch notes, this is possibly fixed after the Sept 18 game update. I'm not noticing aspirations defaulting to the first aspiration in my mod/cc free testing save (it's one I use to test after updates, so not a new save, but has never seen mods/cc).

Same here. I was pleasantly surprised this is fixed now.
