Black Photos (Patch 1.119.109)

I startet a new game (PC - no mods).

My Packs: EP: 01-16 // GP: 01-08,10,12 // SP: 01-03,05-09,11,13-18,26,29,35,38,46,48,49

Edit: Also Photos on the wall getting black after restarting game.

I stored photos in the DIY Chest and reload the savegame. If you open the DIY Chest you can see the preview image BUT if you put them on the wall, the photos turn into black.

I remember that in the past this bug was an issue before, than it was fixed and later come back.

I've really lost all hope when such obvious and easily verifiable bugs still slip through after a patch like this.

For everyone still having issues with this: This is a symptom so there are many causes. EA was able to fix a few. Unfortunately it's impossible to keep separate thread for each cause so I'm not going to try but please when posting here

If you're paintings/photos were broken before, they will NOT be restored

Post exact repro steps what you did.

If you have old photos that were still fine but are now broken, please try making new ones and test if you can replicate the issue with these

Test a new save game to see if it also happens there.

Photos with filters seem to turn black

Photos placed in frames turn black if stacked

Photos in storage boxes turn black at some point.

Did the photos you take have filters? The photos with filters are only turning black for me, at least in this test run.

Same. I understand that black photos can't be restored, but what about new photos in old saves?

That's an interesting observation. I'll test it out to see if I can confirm it.

Still think the storage boxes should have their own threads but it will probably be hard to keep it on topic so I'll check with CM what they want to do.

After another testing round i can absolutley confirm what DeeliciousSims find out. It is not the tripod it is the filter when take a photo.
For me it happend with every photo with filter that was taken with a camera. Phone photos do not get black.
So to reproduce the bug:
Take a photo with a camera (no phone photo) and use a filter when take the photo.
Put the Photo on a wall.
Save
Quit the Sims 4 and start it again.
When loading in your save photos should be black.

Do you know if there are filters automatically applied on grad and funeral photos? If so that could mean filters is the main problem left.

I did the update yesterday for this photo fix. I deleted all the old photos that had already turned black and took all new photos, played for awhile and saved the game. I opened the game today and all the new photos from yesterday on the wall are black. Nothing is fixed. Are they not testing these fixes before they announce it? Very frustrating.

Did you try new photos in a ongoing (not fresh) save as well and they didn't turn black, or are only completely new saves (as in starting from scratch) not turning black?

In my opinion for the problem with the black photos from using a filter and a camera, it doesn't matter if it is a new or a old save game, because the patch did not change any behavior of this problem. If you do not use filters when taking a photo, you should be save from this specific bug also in old saves. Do not forget that there are other things, like storing photos, that can them turn to black.
