When in Live mode, items in a Sim's inventory cannot be dragged and dropped in order to place them. It will just stay in the inventory. The only way to work around this is to click the item and then choose "place in world", but this doesn't work for items that don't have that option, such as the pressure cooker.

I'm a console player (PS5) and can confirm this happens there as well. Also when in build and buy mode I can't place another item in a sequence. I have to move to another category of item in order to place a second one and so on. The same happens if I want to delete something. Can't delete one item after another.
After installing Enchanted by Nature noticed I was unable to drag items from my sims inventory in Live mode. No mods installed but it was happening about 95 percent of the time and I as able to drag things to the world the other 5 percent.
I'm having this same issue. I can't put things in my sims inventory or take them out without it glitching, and for some reason whenever I try to, it always seems to make my escape button stop working, so I have to manual press the three dots in the corner of the game in order to save.
