I adopted two dogs in my sims family, and it’s been a couple of sims days and the title above their name for adoption hasn’t left. The adoption went through, i named them and gave them last names but it won’t go away. I don’t currently have mods on.

both dogs still have the tag, not just the one. it is only when i hover over them, its not in the corner
Does it persist if you reload the game or travel somewhere ?
I just reopened the game after a couple days and it is gone. I guess it needed to restart. it was just that the title never went away when the event was over
I've had the same sort of thing happen, with the pet (cat) that I had click to adopt for 200, the adoption agency person left and the notification saying congrats on adopting a pet appeared along with all the other pet notifications. However, when hovering on the pet above the name, in red it still says "Up for Adoption!". The cat is now in the household, but I can't complete the Have a cat or dog in your household part of the pet aspirations, because the pet isn't but is a part of the household.
I had this exact thing happen to me. I travelled worlds and went into CAS and it still persisted. Exiting and restarting the game fixed it.

have you tried reloading the game ? The label should go away after a loading screen.
Yes, thank you. I don't normally have that sort of issue, so I didn't think about that. I had to do that as well when trying to find the adopt (200) selection in the menu when talking to/adopting another cat during the adoption process.
