Working in the Social Media career, my sim got the assignment to Check In at a Park. She went to Myshuno Meadows at the start of a date there, but I didn't notice the assignment wasn't ticked off until after the date was over. I had her go back and check in again, just in case something had canceled her previous check in, but still the assignment wasn't completed.
Addendum: Checking in at Magnolia Blossom park did complete the assignment.
