'Festering Grudge' doesn't go away

since you say there's still a bug, which older issue are you referring to ? Do you have a link ?

How did you get the grudge ?

From what I understand, this bug is still not fixed.

This is probably why the "Apologies" item doesn't disappear and you can't share family recipes.

Being mean causes "Festering Grudge", which disappears from the game screen but remains in the game data. There seems to be a mod for the PC version that removes this, but there is no solution for the console version. Sims who once had "Unrelenting Grudge" are suddenly mean. I can't take it anymore.

Which one ? There's one for festering grudge on toddlers  and teens getting festering grudge from not going to prom. I couldn't find issue you are describing (either as fixed or open bug)

Sorry if it's confusing due to localization issues. The grudge I'm referring to is the one in the attached image.I tried to find similar cases.

They are all either unresolved or have been fixed by mods, which means that this bug has been there for a long time and has not been fixed, and there is nothing the console version can do about it.

You said for you it never goes away.

1. The toddler one is something that got fixed in a patch and there were still reports. To my knowledge this was for the sentiment happening with no reason (the notes for the fix was: Toddlers will no longer gain negative Sentiments against their parents randomly, especially the Festering Grudge Sentiment. I should not be laughing at this issue as I type it, I should not…<giggles>). 
2. Festering Grudge for any minus friendship: Was about you will get the grudge for just about anything (so a bit excessive)
3. Could be what you are reporting. This was in reported in General discussion though and was never reported in the bug forum to my knowledge. It's also unclear to me if it's just too long/frequent for the OP or never got away.
4. family Recipe: If that's what you are seeing, please upvote.

6. Smooth Apology: Is also an open bug. Just upvote that if you see it or send your save game to EA if you haven't done so.

So from what you reported. 2 or 3 is probably closest. You say it's permanent for you. Does it never go down or just happen easily again that it sounds permanent ? 

The toddlers don't have an active bug currently so if you see it for toddlers with no apparent reason, create a separate thread for that.

Once "Festering Grudge Sentiment" occurs (not just for playable characters or NPCs), even if it appears to disappear over time, the characters will suddenly become mean or acquire angry moodlets. Even when having a very happy conversation, the insults will suddenly start. This has been going on for a long time and has never been resolved. Sims who experience "Festering Grudge Sentiment" always have the option to choose "Smooth Apology." (I voted for this previously.)
So I believe the cause of all of this is that "Festering Grudge Sentiment" remains in the internal data.
I sent my save data to EA a long time ago, but the issue has still not been resolved.
There's nothing that can be done about this issue on console, so I think the only options are to either reinstate the cheats or fix the bug.
I can't stand it anymore when close couples, friends, and lovers suddenly start insulting each other.

Me too, I have the same issue.

[My Environment]

• PC version, Windows 11, DX9
• Own all packs
• No Mods

[Affected Sims]

• All life stages, all occult types, regardless of gender.
• Example: A negative sentiment (A) obtained in the infant/toddler stage will still be active. Once Sim (D) ages up, this bug cannot be resolved anymore, since sentiment (A) cannot be intentionally re-added after aging if it was a life-stage specific one.

[Period]

• Since the implementation of the sentiment system, until now.

[Steps to Reproduce (B)]

1. Sim (C) performs any mean interaction on Sim (D), which gives Sim (D) a negative sentiment (A).
2. Without apologizing, let sentiment (A) expire naturally on Sim (D).

[What Happens]

• Sentiment (A) remains hidden on Sim (D) in the background.
• The “Apologize” command remains available from Sim (C) to Sim (D).
• Even if Sim (C) apologizes, it does not clear, because sentiment (A) is already removed from the UI.
• Sim (D) continues to autonomously perform mean interactions toward Sim (C), based on the hidden sentiment (A).

[Workaround 1]

• After (B), manually re-apply the same negative sentiment (A) to Sim (D).
• Have Sim (C) apologize to Sim (D).

The moment the sentiment disappears via apology, the bug resolves.

[Workaround 2]

• Save Sim (D) to My Library, delete them from the world, and then place them again from the Library.
• Since sentiments are not preserved in Library/Gallery saves, this clears it.
• However, all family relationships etc. are reset, so this method is impractical.

[What Happens After Fix]

• The hidden sentiment (A) is truly removed.
• The “Apologize” command disappears.
• Sim (D) no longer performs autonomous mean interactions due to sentiment (A).

This issue is often discussed in the Japanese Sims community.
