i've noted since the most recent update (before the enchanted by nature pack) that when I place specifically upper cabinets, the game craps out and crashes. i've tried slowly pressing the cabinet, then selecting the colour, and then placing it, but as soon as my cursor leaves the buy mode bar and goes onto the actual environment I am trying to decorate, the game freezes then crashes. anyone else?? seems to only happen with kitchen cabinets, I've been building a new neighbourhood so have been using everything from build/buy frequently, but seems to only be the upper cabinets (like the wall mounted ones). the extractor fans/stove hoods place fine.
I am a PC player, I use some cc but not loads, and I use my laptop which usually handles the sims 4 and several packs just fine :-)
I am actually dealing with the same issue. Mine is a little more specific though:
I am allowed to place any cabinets with the exception of 'BlandCo Contemporary Cabinet', unfortunately picking up this item/selecting the item, or copying and redesigning it, causes my game to crash. As well as idling with these cabinets in use, causes the game to crash as well. I do have mods but they are updated to latest sims 4 version, and no one is reporting any issues.
Unfortunately, you might need to just switch cabinets, unless you find a better approach, if you've have, I'd love to know (i really wanna use these cabinets for my build) also let me know what cabinet if its any specific one for you.
I have some solutions that might work:
- Clear your cache files (this wont corrupt your saves, but I'd recommend backing them up into a secure folder)
- Delete mods one by one-if present-and test the game, maybe a mod is corrupted, and doing so will pin down exactly what mod is corrupted.
- Download Sims 4 Studio (As of when this reply was posted, I have not tested this out, but other Sims 4 users recommended it for me, I recommend checking the legitimacy of this website)
- Uninstall and Reinstall Sims 4 (ensure all your saves, and/or mods are backed up first!)
The same thing happens to me. Even with the furniture from The Sims 4 "Dream Home Decorator" pack. The game freezes and crashes, taking me to the EA screen.
Unfortunately, to circumvent "the system," I take the furniture (example: kitchens) already built in build mode. I have an Asus Vivobook Intel Core 3 and unfortunately I'm not good enough at switch to DX11
