[GTW] Detective: Can't interrogate suspect on recolored tables

The ability to interrogate a suspect just arrested in the detective career will not queue up.  I tried twice.  The option does appear on the table, it just won't queue.

Since I had installed two EPs and a kit that day, I tried a game repair after deleting localthumbcache but that didn't work.  I've now sent the sim alone to work for a couple of days and still no promotion.  I can't say for sure when this started since this is the first time playing as a detective in more than a year.

I've actually installed three EPs in the last few days, as well as Crystal Creations and the Urban Homage kit.  The added EPs are BH, LS and DL.

This migrated bug report forum is completely new to me so if I haven't done something correctly, please feel free to let me know.

Is this for a recolored table ?

No, not to my knowledge.  I am playing a save made by lilsimsie but the police station lot doesn't appear to have been altered in any way, leastwise to the best of my memory.  If you would like, I will start a new save and see if the result is different, just lmk.

  • Well, I remembered incorrectly.  The police station in the lilsimsie save has been edited.  I checked on a new save.  I was able to interrogate the arrested subject.  It took about three tries to get the option to queue, but it finally did.

I presume by your question that the recolored table is the problem.  Is it fixable?  I've never tried to edit a hidden location.  I am NOT a builder. :)

    Hi dolldrms1

yes, it's fixable. Do these steps (I'm not a builder either)

On your next visit to the police station, enter the following cheat: bb.enablefreebuild

This should enable build mode (if it doesn't work, also add testingcheats). Now just either change the color of the table or delete the table and re-place it in the default color.

    Hello again crinrict

That was the problem.  Since I don't usually have an edited police station in a save, I had forgotten about the old thread.  I searched before posting but nothing was coming up for me, so I am grateful you remembered and linked the old thread.

In case anyone else runs into this anytime again soon, you do go to work and use bb.enablefreebuild.  It isn't necessary to turn on testingcheats first.  I used the design tool and selected the first color option choice, which was the correct one. Just for good measure, I changed the color of the chairs back to the original swatch used, too.

I don't see a way to accept your post as a solution in this new (to me) forum, but it was the solution in my save for not being able to interrogate a subject.  Thank you so much for your help!

There's no solutions in the new bug forum. It's still a bug that the recolors don't work. I mean you do need to use a cheat to change them but why offer recolors if they don't work.

Completely agree that recolors should work since this has been a "bug" since what, 2015 or so?  The guides to edit the police station that I could find, after reading your post, only indicate how to edit and the requirement for a table and two chairs, not indicating original swatch necessary for the table to work.  Guides should be changed, or recolors should work, but that's not up to us.

Hopefully, this new thread on the issue will help players.  Again, I thank you for your help.  I would have been so helplessly lost without your guidance on so many levels, and the blog posts on your site.  I just sent a link to another player I know on deleting cache files from your blog.  Sorry, that's a digression.  I simply want to acknowledge how very much you have helped players for years.
