High School Day is completely not working

I get the high school day going, following the sim, but after the first interaction, which is either to 'learn about school from principal' or to 'do a morning workout' no events show up on the upper right corner, no goals. 

This is a clean save, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the entire game twice and it still occurs.
